Being a essendon supporter myself just wondering what you guys thought of Richards, while he was at essendon thought he showed alot of promise and potenial (good size strong mark) but 3 years down the track not sure if he is as good as i thought he could be. Do u think he will have a postion in sydney 's team in years to come

Yeah the bench!

I think Richard's has done a good job while at the Swans and im happy for him to be in our first 22 every week.

I think Teddy is a better player at Sydney then he was at the Bombers. This doesn't necessarily make him a great player. I think he is in the best 22 at the Swans, but I struggle to get over the terrible "out on the Full" in the 2006 GF, dyming minutes. Unfair and harsh absolutely, but he pannicked - and that's what I struggle with. Under the pump he makes bad decisions.

Completley inconsistent......

Really needs to deliver something week in/week out.

He'll play the house down one weekend and be BOG, and then do absolutely ziltch the next weekend.

Agreed though it must be said that he is alot more consitant than Nick Davis. From memory i think Richards best game this year was against Essendon. He was brilliant that day.

I dont agree with that kind of thinking. Every player on a team has the ability to turn a potential loss into a win.

Maybe they do.

But not everyone has turned a potential draw into a loss..... and a G/F to boot!

:D

All jokes aside, I don't mind Teddy. He's very handy when he's playing well. We just don't see enough of that.

Cut Teddy some slack. I think he's a great asset...didn't have a great year, but can stand tall in a pack and take a mark, which is more than I can say for much of the swans this year.

I'm glad Roosy's given him a go.

He can't remember the last 15 minutes of the game. Not too long before he kicked it out on the full, a West Coastian (whose name slips my mind) layed a hard tackle on him, knocking him out. There was an article all about it on sydneyswans.com.au about it a week or so after the game.

Richards is a bits and pieces player for us at the moment. He is assigned a different role each week. One week he might be in defence, then the next in attack. I think he has been a serviceable player for us so far.

He lacked confidence at Essendon, there's no denying that. He was much maligned. All he needed was a chance to play. We have given him that chance and I've got no doubt he'll be a good player for us in the years to come.

He's still a bit-player to us right now as we struggle to find a place for him. In my view, he has two main attributes, he's a good leaper and spoiler when the delivery from the other teams comes in high (and hence he did a very nice job in the St. Kilda) and a good floating mark, but struggles against blokes that leads well (unlike C.Bolton who is great at a 'horizontal' spoil).

Don't think he can make it as a forward - his kicking is dodgy. So, still dunno how he'll turn out - though he was handy for us when LRT was injured most of this year, but that's partly because we were desperate.

Sydney tend to have either some very good trades and some (a lot) of absolute shockers!

I thought at start he was in the later ( he lacked confidence decison making and fumbled and kicked poorly) but he has improved and continues to improve ( so much cooler under pressure has regained good marking and jury is still out on his kicking). BUT first time this year many of us had him in top 3 BOG in some games

If he continues to improve then sensational... just has to become more consistent.

But evan at his best, Richards won't win you a game. Nick Davis however..........

teddy almost won us a grand final last season.....he offers more than several others in our first 22, and never stops trying.....also, his inconsistency this season might have more to do with the general inconsistency of the team and how unsettled we were
i would have richards in my first 22 at this stage

Intresting seeing the contrast of opinions, i myself am dissapointed that we traded him seeing i think he is extremly useful and prefer to see him developed into a backman that can play above his size
