Lucky we didn't drop him like some fruit bats were calling this time last week.

He played out of his skin, I punched the couch when he passed it directly to the opposition in the 1st but after that he atoned well and played a blinder.

Say what you will about Tendai, but he works really hard (hardest working player on the park for us I'd say) and he never gives up. Even if he comes out with a clanger, he still has the confidence to play-on and make that attacking pass the next time his chance comes - and it's frankly what we need.

There was a point in the 3rd I think where Fyfe* got the ball and pulled up when he saw a Docker lead in a genuine one-on-one with a few Saints trailing, deciding to play safe rather than risk a turnover. It was just the wrong thing to do - sure the risk was there, but we had to do that sort of thing to have a chance anyway. Tendai just kept taking the game on and good on him for it, as long as you're getting it right more times than not, then you've got to back yourself at this level or go back to WAFL - loved his game tonight.

*BTW, not bagging Fyfe overall, just that incident.

It has been one of the most satisfying things for me as a Perth supporter to see Tendai's transformation from WAFL level to AFL level. He is growing in confidence all the time and has taken his game to another level as an AFL player. Well done Tendai.

Another Perth player Fremantle should be looking at is Hayden Busher. If you want a player with similar attributes to Jack Darling then Bush is your man. Similar in so many ways. Similar height (guessing around 6' 3"), strong build, very mobile and fast, strong overhead and presents all day, can out mark opponents one on one, great work ethic and willingness to tackle, a fairly reliable kick for goal from up to 50m out and runs straight at it and kicks through the ball. He is in his second year of league footy though only played about 4 games late last year. I would be disappointed to lose him at Perth but just hope he stays in Perth and hopefully Fremantle. WC wouldn't be able to fit him into their forward line but Freo are crying out for key forwards. Turns 20 this month

His first game was a bit underwhelming if I recall but it was just that -his first game. Since then his performances have grown steadily and it is becoming more apparent with each passing week that he has class.

He has been on the receiving end of criticism about his disposal at times. However the step up from WAFL has to be considered here. At AFL level the big difference is that you have less time to execute skills. This is going to mean a reduction in precision until the speed of the game is adapted to.

What I liked about about last night was that he pretty much matched it with an AFL elite player and did some damaging things. This is what we want in match -ups and we need players who can do it.

Having a tagger that reduces an opposition players disposals is pointless if the tagger doesn't contribute anything to their own team that results in a scoreboard difference. Still ends up being a net win to the opposition- not talking about anybody in particular here:rolleyes:

Maybe now all the people who have been knocking him will get lost. He kept us in the game and I think that was his breakout game; he moved a lot better and was injured for the first half of the season.

Good to see Tendai stepping up in an important game and building some form. Another valuable pick-up, Faulks looks to be improving too.

Gets enough of the ball, but *really* needs to improve the quality of his disposal. He would do some genuine damage if he couild hit targets.

?

Disposal has been a little bit average at times in past weeks... some loopy handballs and kicks that don't find their mark. But thought his disposal was great last night. Especially his kicking.

If he keeps his disposal at the level it was last night it won't be held up as a weakness for much longer.

His criticism for lack of disposal efficiency is simply due to it being his first year in AFL footy and coming back from a medial ligament injury. I watched him at pre-season and training and he has a good kick but just like Pitt needs to adjust to the pressure of AFL footy. Which Mzungu is starting to do.
