I don't think theres been enough love for Murph going on in the new Co-Captains thread or on this board.

IMO Murph has done an excellent job through an incredibly tough time. We didn't have any standout leaders, and Murph grew into the role through hard work and his devotion to the club. He was not a natural leader but set an example and learnt to be a leader. Yes i agree it was the right time to hand the captaincy over, but Murph has been fantastic and in a key reason behind the strength of our young leaders that we have today.

He has copped it a bit over the years, and i think it has been unfairly justified. I hope he can now focus on getting back to his best and holding #17 before he hangs them up.

Thank you Murph! You are all class.

You could not have given any more to this club. You truly bleed Blue!

Thanks Murph! He had to do a lot of heavy lifting for us, and not much reward for it either.

Many had their doubts early, but I think he really grew into the job. You could see his attitude hardening during the exodus of guys like Henderson. Nothing like having crabs ******* around at your expense to do that.

Time to concentrate on personal form, more family time, and setting himself up for life after footy. I'm sure he'll still provide leadership in kind.

These are reasons that identify him as being a great leader. I dare say it is a lot easier to lead a team of champions during a premiership window when you have record membership numbers, and plenty of other leaders ready to assist.

A very different story to stick fat with your club through arguably it's darkest period in history, and lead by example with not a lot of experience or assistance from others. Also, to not jump ship for an easy shot at a premiership with another club, speaks volumes of the character of the bloke.

Murph, I have had my moments of criticism, but over all you have done a stellar job and I really appreciate your efforts over the years.
A True Blue Champion of our club. Hope you get to relax a bit more now without the added pressures and play some enjoyable footy for the remainder of your career! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
