Yeah wasn't it refreshing to hear him come out when he first got the gig and say that, senior coach or not either way he wanted to stay at Port Adelaide.

Very happy to have this guy around the club, and whatever he ordered the players to do last Sunday could he please pass this on to the new coach!

We talk a lot about The Creed but Garry Hocking comes across as a guy who really lives it and puts the club ahead of personal ambition.

The creed isn't something you read, it's something you do, and Hocking is doing it.

The Buddha himself probably had Hocking in mind when he said.......

Just as treasures are uncovered from the earth, so virtue appears from good deeds, and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue.

call me cynical but he had to "go away and talk to a few people" before he made the decision whether to apply for the job

I reckon he spoke to those people, and it became apparent that there was 0% chance he would get the job, so he didnt apply

Perhaps, but I suspect that prior to appointing the caretaker, KT would have informed Buddha that the club would not appoint the caretaker in any event, so as to avoid the PR fallout from another Primus-like hiring and eventual sacking.

Even so, kudos for having some insight. Primus had little insight at the end of 2010 and the coaching selection panel had even less.

well i hope when this so called " skill set " has been developed, you use it here with us buddah or we will be major losers again. {i have the faith} :thumbsu:

Notice that the lead in to the article on adelaidenow says that by Buddha not applying there is one less obstacle to Brett Ratten joining us. If there was 0% chance of Buddha getting the gig I'd like to think that there was -0% chance of Ratten getting it.

I love the way Buddha has handled this, class act all the way. I think he has gained a lot of respect from supporters and people both inside and outside the club over the last few weeks.

Dear Buddha,

Thank you. I quite enjoyed our last two games despite the results. Seeing the Port Adelaide Football Club move the ball quickly through the corridor using run and link up handball. Such a novel and entertaining way to play football. Why didn't someone think of this earlier? If only we had the fitness to do that late into the last quarter every week.

However if you ever do get to be caretaker coach again could you please put all eighteen men in the defensive fifty during a centre bounce for old time's sake. It would be worth sacking another coach just for that.

Yours Sincerely

John Hart Jnr
