No worries champ just remember neither Wallace or Clarkson have achieved antyhing at their respective clubs yet.

yea your right but i think we've taken the path you should of when we started to & you might be where we are & we might be where you are if wallace was our coach i dare say we'd have thompson up forward instead of buddy boyle roughy etc. richo is a star but should you of traded him 3 years ago? i'm trying to say that terry has been reluctant till now to go basically all out for the kids

It's a myth thats been created by media personell such as Gary Lyon that Hawthorn traded all their senior players away for draft picks and played the kids and that we didn't.

You traded Thompson and Hay and we offloaded Ottens for 2 first rounders. Also got rid of Fiora for Simmonds (quality ruckman).

We have blooded just as many youngsters as you guys have in the last few years. It's only that your Crawfords, Hodges and Mitchells are better than our Johnsons, Tivendales and Tucks.

Richmond only now just following the "hawthorn example" - False and a myth.

Yeh I dont mean to begrudge your season you guys have been good and we should've gone the kids route earlier like Hawthorn did but I would hate to see Richo traded as he is the heart of our team.

I think we are heading down the right path though there have been some encouraging signs this year despite being prime wooden spoon contenders.

how about playing players like graham marsh kingsley & a couple of others do you think that was a mistake in hindsight

i understand what u mean but mitchell & hodge are 23 johnson is around 30 if i'm not mistaking

Johnson was in the crawford lot, I clearly wasnt putting him with mitchell and hodge.

The next closest we have in the age bracket of Mitchell and Hodge and of similar role in our team for a comparison is Tivendale and Tuck (who are older than them, yes, but not by much) or Coughlan, but i discluded him cos he's barely played for 2 years.

tivandale is 28 & not in there class tuck is probably resonable comparision but i think players like hughes & the like should be playing more games of footy to develop & its easy to say should of got franklin but i think thats crap because from wat i hear were the only club who wasn't going to be taking tembling at 2

In hindsight Graham was a PSD pick and was more than sevicable, played his role, and if Brown never had that injury that year he probably would have been part of a finals series.

Marsh - dud, played 1 or 2 games for us, no effect on the current team as he was a PSD pick aswell.

Kingsley - Has played for us twice, and again, a PSD pick.

It's not like we spent talented players to get this lot.

guys think about it. there best players are at the age where they should be performing (apart from franklin and co). where as our best are either towards the end (richo, bowden and browny is getting there) or just in there young days (foley, deledio etc.). i agree they have exceeded expectations, but lets see how long that lasts and should they drop out of the 8 towards the end of the season or finsih low in the eight they should not be over excited. i think with either terry or clarkson theyd still be in the position they are now. clarkson's game plan is not what is winning them games its the players on the park. terry is by far a better startegist.

no disrespect to clarko.

if u take out crawf bateman croad & smith out of sundays side no one is over 24, how about our forward set up buddys square as they named it, its been a piece of genius & worked brilliantly, if terry was coach we'd have tembling instead of buddy but thats not a critiscism thats pot luck who was to know how good buddy would be but i believe we wouldn't of gone the youth route as much if terry was our coach

I hope you're enjoying your school holidays young fella, what grade are you in now, 3, 4?

The hawks have been lucky that they've been able to trade with teams that are completely stupid.... Fremantle and Kangaroos.

We did it once with Fitzroy.

if u take out crawf bateman croad & smith out of sundays side no one is over 24,

Hawthorn
32 - Crawford
30 - Smith

27 - Croad
26 - Bateman
25 - Osborne
25 - Guerra
25 - Campbell
24 - Mitchell
24 - Taylor
24 - Brown
23 - Ladson
23 - Sewell
23 - Hodge

23 - Boyle
22 - Gilham
22 - McGlynn
21 - Lewis
21 - Young
20 - Franklin
20 - Roughead
19 - Birchall
19 - Ellis

Williams (24), Clarke (25), Jacobs (27), Vandenburg (30) and perhaps Dixon (30) can all come back in.

A couple of veterans, a solid core in the 23-28 group, and some promising kids.

Richmond
32 - Richardson
29 - Brown
29 - Bowden
29 - Johnson
29 - Simmonds

28 - Tivendale
25 - Pettifer
25 - Newman
25 - Tuck
24 - Hyde
23 - Polak

23 - King
22 - Howat
21 - Raines
21 - Pattison
21 - Jackson
21 - Foley
21 - Thursfield
20 - Tambling
20 - Deledio
20 - White
18 - Edwards

Very few players in that 'core' group. Veterans and kids. Of the guys 23+ only Tivendale, Tuck, Hyde and Johnson are midfielders. That's why we lose close games and fade. Not enough miles in the legs of our midfield.

No

We respect, appreciate and have a lotta love for that bloke - we don't sell our souls for draft picks - i'd rather poke pins in my eye than us boot a top player and bloke like richo from our club - for some (most likely ) snot nosed kid.

other players may have been trade-able perhaps - but definitely nver richo - would be like essendon trading hird away for picks - some things are more important

why are you here? if you want to make a comment - why not take it and shove it up your ass- where someone will care?

other note mods - why do you let people just come in here and stir up shit? not other board accepts that

:)Get serious Lucas.

Traded Hay!

More like the supposed family club abandoned and offloaded a guy with problems that were known to the club, dudding and on-trading those problems to another unsuspecting club!

Decent bunch of ***** are the Hawks!

Hope you sleep well Hawkers!!

Don't forget as well that we were in bad financial shape and if we had gone the Hawthorn route at the start then we'd probably had to have sold some home games to another state. Don't ever want to be a club that does that.
