Thankyou Nathan Eagleton.

Everyone seems happy to suggest that Eagleton should not have been in the team for various reason, but no one is prepared to name who should have been taking his place.

There was probably 300 better player in the competition at any given time over his career who might have got a game ahead of hime although clearly none of those 300 players were playing at Werribee or Wiliamston.

Happy to reconsider my thoghts if anyone can put someone forward

If this board has a post of the year competition, i nominate this.

If Collingwood had that attitude do you think Lockyer, O'Bree, Medhurst or Fraser would ever had got dropped for untried younters such as Beams or Sidebottom.

The point is you don't know until you try other younsters. Maybe your right and ours aren't up to scratch? thats begs another question, why not

Yet certain players aren't given the same opportunities as others.

Anyway roll on next year...

I think Eagleton was traded as a bloke that was going to take us that extra step, when that failed to materialize he was made the scapegoat when he was in a pretty poorly performed team.
He changed the way he played the game and for that I take my hat off to him, he started as a completely outside type who received the ball and kicked goals. I remember seeing him in a game against Geelong at Etihad early in his career with us and he kicked 7 goals. We lost by a kick and both teams at that time were on the build but he showed the ability we traded him for.
He became a run with player and did a pretty good job negating his own game for the teams success. You can't ask for much more than that. Toward the end of his career he became a free-wheeling player again but with more responsibility. Again he was serviceable in this role.
When his kicking was on song, there were not many more dangerous players than he from outside the 50 arc, however his kicking was a lot less efficient this year.
His old legs were still fast but he tried to overkick the ball which caused a bit of shanking.
Well done Eagle, very pleased with the service you gave us.

Really???? I must have been watching another Eagle.

Yep maybe you were watching another Eagle, a couple of years ago he was playing as a run-with and was doing ok. He had the tank to go with the elite players and was more prepared to get in the packs, he has never been one to really get into an opposition players head and annoy them like Libba, Jose and Picken do.
He also made the opposition player accountable because Eagle had the ability to kill going the other way.
Yes he has had some poor games this year and last, but he also has had good games as well. Not everyone who plays football at the elite level can play as well as Cooney, Griff, Boyd, Lake. If that was the case you would win the flag every year.
He is far from my favourite player but he gave a lot of good sevice to the Dogs over a long period of time.

Nathan Eagleton (retired)
He was a real positive. We had some strong conversations with Eags at the end of last year and basically told him there wouldn't be a guaranteed spot for him, he'd have to fight for everything and he did that. He got dropped a couple of times, never complained and really filled an important role for us when he played in the AFL.

That's great news for Nathan. He had stated that he wanted to return to SA. I wish him well. I wonder what has happened to the business he had with Adam Cooney and Brian Lake.

In pre-season training under Nathan Bassett's guidance at Norwood.

Good on him I say... still looks in good shape.
Surprised he moved back to Adelaide with such a young family.

Hopefully Norwood are in that Champions league this year and we get a chance to watch him go around.

No unfortunately. We were Grand Finallists this year, but the top 5 sides all opted out of the champions league for a variety of sponsorship and football related reasons. Disappointing.

It's still there, I take my kids there regularly. Just has different owners.

Looking forward to seeing the Eagle in action at Coopers Stadium- the best footy ground in Adelaide.

Thought you might be interested Nathan Eagleton was sent off in the Norwood v South game for being reported twice. The radio commentators thought neither incident was reportable. At least one of the reports sound dubious.

Call to review send off rule

Was about the last guy I'd expect to get reported let alone pinged under that rule.
