bit dramatic. think stephenson will be elevated prior to the season starting. we can kiss our finals chances goodbye if maric goes down for 3-4 weeks and we have to bring in derrickx because we failed to elevate stephenson at the start of the year.

stephenson only needs to be elevated if maric gets a long term injury, and if Maric gets a long term injury ( and he currently has one, not in full training yet ) then we are screwed, really hope his rehab has been managed right, and still don't understand why he was worked into the ground at the end of last year when the season was over. Hope it doesnt come back and bite us on the proverbial, because I think it might.

Stephenson is a really crappy insurance policy, its cheap and nasty, thats all I am saying, and I dont think it would be in our best interests to cash it in.

Hypothetically, if Maric goes down (Cotch Forbid), then Vickery needs to step up and shoulder the number 1 ruck duties. Then we are able to bring in Elton to play Vickery's role. The kid needs a chance to play and that is a natural position for him. I think he is going to be a solid player... at the very least

Obviously injuries and form will shape final decision

i think your right with these too but with derrickx has to given a chance first or else whats the point?

To be fair to Derickx with Graham and Brown running around in the VLF last yer he had no real opportunity to ruck.

The big O gets the first spot ..... there is no way we will shoulder the ruck load on maric like we did last season. IMO that was absolutely redicloulus...... We had just gone out and recruited what would become the recruit of the year and we try and drive him into the ground, and Wow he copped an injury. He is probably our most important player and we want him 100% at the buiseness end of the season. The big O and Vickory need to take some hits for him and I cant see us using a suspect vickory too much in the ruck.... So The big O plays a big part in our Ruck department, something he cant do if he isnt elevated.

i'd say we kept him for insurance, when we re-signed him, we didnt have mcbean (project player i know) or the big o and were planning on trading Graham, at that stage we were going to re-rookie Browne as back up but things clearly worked out differantly for us.

The fact is Oren is upto it on the form he showed last season. We need to start to forget about trying to "find" what players "can" do and force them to demand to show it. IMO Oren is ahead of Mr X on last years performance and hence he should assume mumber 1 in the VFL until Mr x proves otherwise.

We should upgrade Petterd and Lonergan and keep Orren on our rookie list, because Orren will only get games if Maric is out Injuired/sore. I'm not sure if this is allowed but can we upgrade Petterd and Lonergan and when Orren needs to play, we downgrade Lonergan back to the rookie list and upgrade Orren?

No we cant do that.... you can only put someone on long term injury list for minimum 8 weeks...So wat happens when Maric pulls a hammy and is out for 3 weeks??? Orren will be the first upgraded.
