I'm sure if he wanted to continue his career he wouldnt mind having to travel from Manchester to wherever he was signed. Family does come first so he may end calling it quits. Isnt Bolton around Manchester also?

Bolton is in Greater Manchester. As is Wigan and Man United.

City is in Manchester proper.

Blackburn not too far away, nor is the merseyside clubs or Stoke. Sheff Wednesday not too far the other side, Leeds is only an hours drive away.

Stoke/Mersey side clubs wont be interested. Leeds cant afford him (they are broker then they act) and Sheff Wednesday are probably below Blackburn and Bolton on the pecking order really.

He can provide cover at both. Would be 3rd choice CB and 2nd choice LB IMO and all for like 10 mill
I think you would find Joleon would be quiet nervous if we did pick up someone like Vertonghen. Rumour mill is hard at work for CB's to city, Skrtel, Dede from Vasco de gama, Javi Martinez. All would be equal in ability to Lescott.

i'd like to see us bring in martinez who can play both cm and cb as cover. unfortunately it looks like he is off to bayern as barca can't afford his release clause and cant offer a swap for players (basque rulling). ddr is a pipe dream for that though, excellent in the midfield and cb. no thanks to skrtel, dede i havent seen much of and vertonghen would be alright but wouldnt displace lescott or kompany. i hope savic is sent out on loan to somewhere he can gain confidence in himself and not just play when the captain is out and be expected to do the job to the same standard.

Martinez would be great but as you say looks done for. Skrtel is serviceable, made PL TOTY, and I might be wrong but think he was Scouser of the year.
Dede from what Ive seen is a great prospect but by the sounds of it wants to stay in brazil.
With Kolo looking gone and Savic needing time it is definitely a priority.
More so than four more world class strikers.

oh i definitely dont mean no thanks skrtel from a talent stand point. i just think for the cost (honestly, liverpool will want 30 mil, and i can't blame them), he's not a genuine improvement on lescott or kompany.

would love to see rekik get a go next season. unfortunately it sounds like juan roman is off to barca's la masia after the almighty **** up that was not running a reserves team last season.

Would be great to see Rekik get a go but would it be much difference to Savic? Savic with first team experience.
Roman gone but TBH as long as its not Denis Suarez Im not to stressed. Pozo seems a brighter prospect to me anyway.

from what i've seen from rekik he seems so settled and composed on the ball. he was named best on for portsmouth playing at lb in his first game on loan and earned some pretty rave reviews. i'd like to see him get a go in the carling/whatever it's called cup, but all the players should be getting more experience than last season with continual reserves games.

Bild confirming @Matt_Law_SM story that Sigurdsson off to #THFC for €10m, via @dan_bu. Snub for Rodgers
As a long suffering Spurs fan I'm not getting my hopes up til he has the shirt in hand with his name and number on the back. Would be a great signing. He and Nuri in to nullify the loss of Modric and keeping Bale is my main hopes for this summer. I dont think it will be too hard to land a striker of at least Adebayor quality again but this midfield business could make or break our season

I'm with you.

Has there been any more talk VDV wanting out? Not really sure how VDV, Sahin and Sigurdsson would work.

Modric -> Sahin + cash
VDV -> Cash (If he does want out)
Sign Vert + Sigs
Buy striker
Keep Bale

That's what I want.
There was talk of him to Schalke a while back because his wife works on TV over there. He is a crowd favourite and would love for him to stay. Depends on the manager we sign, AVB likes his 4-3-3 and not sure how VDV would fit in that. 4-2-3-1 would suit him perfectly.

Sahin/Sandro - Parker/Huddlestone as the holding 2 mids
Lennon/Dos Santos- VDV/Sigurdson - Bale/Sessengon as the 3 attacking mids.

If we were to go with AVB I'm not sure if VDV could play as part of the 3 man midfield. I'd also think we'd need to sign another winger as 3 (Lennon, Bale, Dos Santos) into 2 doesn't provide much cover

Cant see how Sigurdsson ends up at Spurs. Tottenham and Liverpool are both offering Europa League football. Liverpool will have no problems with money or wages, can easily trump Spurs there and then you have one club without a manager and the other club with a manager that Sigurdsson clearly gets on with and has a great relationship. Just cant see him ending up at Spurs if LFC are genuinely interested, which I assume we are.

He gets to live in London instead of Liverpool?

Is the relationship between Sigurdsson and Rogers overstated a bit. They've had less than a year together as manager and player.

The prestige thing is overstated as well, 'istree might dominate Liverpool supporters thinking but players tend to live in the here and now. It's more prestigious to play for a fourth placed club than an eighth placed club, and at the moment I would think the majority would find Spurs the better bet.

Maybe we are overstating the relationship between Sigurdsson and BR. But prestige is prestige. History doesnt dominate just LFC fans, it dominates everything. Spurs have how many appearance in the European Cup/Champions League in their history? We have won it 5 times. Not just that but 18 league titles, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups, I can go on and on. Liverpool have a history of winning which suggest we can go on winning. City dont have our history but do have $$$ so I understand why a player may choose City over Liverpool. Current champs, CL football and tons of money with tons of star players with a huge future. City is attractive.

Spurs... not so much. Dour history, no sugar daddy. Had Chelsea lost the CL final then Spurs would have something to hold onto. But they dont. But who knows where Sigurdsson ends up, he might go to Spurs, im not in the inner circle of either club and dont pretend to be. I know as much as everyone else. A lot of people are saying Spurs are now a lock to get him, a lot of sources say he will be a Liverpool player by the end of the week. Guess we wait and find out.

History dominates the thinking of Liverpool FC fans, but means very little to anyone else. And for all your 'istreeee, you haven't won a league for nearly quarter of a century, and haven't come close to qualifying for the champions league for three years now. Those things will have much more effect on a modern day footballers thinking than a period of success 30/40 years ago.

That we will. FWIW, unless Spurs lose a VDV I think he is better served going to Liverpool who really need a player like that.

FSN just reported on the drogba to barcelona rumour. i thought that had already been dismissed? he just signed for shanghai just a few days ago.
