fair enough mate. don't think gerrard has achieved or done anything substantial for a few years. glimpses of his quality but in between injuries and age he hasn't been that great. vdv has definitely been superior.
I suppose Suarez is a must then. His competition is Defoe and Carroll ....
I do agree with you on Gerrard, switch him for VDV, still question marks over Walker and Johnson. Squad apart from that is settled. Although, there is no real natural right sided player.

Is Lucas really rated more highly than Sandro?

And skrtel and agger over kaboul?

Hearing that Liverpool made a bid of £8.5m for Sigurdsson, but Hoffenheim (as they should) are looking for more money so are shopping him around to see if they can increase his transfer fee. Spurs have declared an interest in him and his final destination will depend on how highly Spurs and Liverpool value the player. Based on what the few sources I trust are saying, I still expect him to sign for Liverpool, but it will probably be for more than the fee initially quoted which is probably about right, £8.5m in this market seemed too good to be true.

The Rodgers-Sigurdsson link isn't just from his time at Swansea. Before he joined Hoffenheim, Sigurdsson also spent 3 seasons at Reading where he worked under Rodgers and clearly made a good impression (this was the main reason why Rodgers brought him to Swansea this season, and it was only Swansea's finances that prevented him from bringing him over the previous season). Sigurdsson recently said he saw Rodgers as a father figure, so there's no doubting the strong bond the 2 have and I'd imagine this would certainly influence his decision. He knows he fits into Rodgers' system and Rodgers' knows how to get the best out of him.

Rogers was sacked from Reading after 4 months at the club.

Didn't know that!
After reading into it a bit more, it looks like despite his short tenure, Rodgers was the one that gave Sigurdsson his chance at Reading after having spent the previous season on loan at both Shrewsbury & Crewe. In that season aged 19 he finished with 21 goals and 9 assists in 44 games from midfield, so perhaps that is where the bond initially came from? Sigurdsson has certainly spoken very highly of Rodgers recently and vice-versa.

3 years ago, is your memory that short?
3 seasons is a fair way back. Back then you also had xabi and torres IIRC? Honestly thought that was further back than that. U guess this signing of Gylfi will decide who has more to offer for potential signings. Don't forget if 'Arry wasn't a chicken we had Suarez all but lined up at one stage. But apparently he wouldn't suit England lol

Congratulations, but you're still yet to win one since the Premier League started. Look at Spurs' recent record, they easily finished ahead of you this season, therefore they were better than you, as they have been for the last 3 years.
Since the Premier League started. You mean since it changed it's name from First Division to Premier League. It means nothing.

Yes, yes, congratulations on having unlimited money. Well played.

Well spending a shitload of some businessmans cash worked for Liverpool in the 60's, 70's and 80's worked for Liverpool. Only fair that we have a go as well.

And I never felt unlucky to support City before the cash, not sure why I would now.

But what is truly fortunate is that those supporters who believe history and successes (often before they were born) are the be all and end all, almost always happen to chance upon the biggest and most successful teams to support. Not that any of them will ever admit to being glory hunters, they must be truly fortunate.

Never understood people begrudging City for spending big money, as you say its always happened (just on a larger scale now) I think it's mostly just jealousy from other supporters who probably wish their team was in the same position. I know when the investment arm of the Dubai royal family was linked with LFC I was praying it would go through. I couldn't care less whether it's success that's been 'bought', I just want success. I'm one of the only Liverpool supporters I've spoken to who isn't bothered about the fact that Anfield is likely to be renamed Air China Arena or whatever they go with, it's just a name, I'll still call it Anfield. But if the £££ that brings helps deliver success then surely it will be worth it.

I dont care that City have money, it was hilarious the way they snatched the title off Utd. Id love it if we had a huge sugar daddy too. Just not to be.

Apparently Liverpool have made a 30million bid for James Rodriguez from Porto or are about too.

Flies in the face of reports that we had a 30million bid rejected.

40million is the buy out clause. I hope no teams pays that. Also I can't see Utd even offering that much for a 20yo unless Nani is all but gone for 30million +.

Modric: "I’m going to play in the Champions League, I want to win that competition. I’m not going to be able to achieve my dream here."

Looks like a certainty then. What would Spurs fans prefer in exchange for him? Money or Money/Player deal including Sahin & Carvalho as is being speculated? As good as Carvalho is/was he's 34 and only made 13 appearances this season so you have to wonder how much longer he has left. Sahin at 23 could be good value, he may not have been up to Madrid's standards but there's no shame in that, he was brilliant for Dortmund winning the Bundesliga player of the season in 2010/11 so there's definitely some talent there.

Another case example of player who has many part owners who have alot of interest in him being sold. Way too early for a team to be making such bids, especially Man United
