A lot has been said about our season and let's be honest. It was not good. No finals once again , questionable selections and injuries after a promising start. We are getting impatient. We are grumpy.
However compared to other clubs, we haven't done so bad. So before we prepare for another melt in 2016, let us look back on the opposition from 2015 and rejoice.
If you want to add moments, let me know and I will add them to the list.

Our trading period so far. If we get the deals were expected to get done finals should be no problem.

Mick leaving Carlton was like watching a long drawn out train wreck ...

... Just wondering when it was going to end. It just went on and on. When it finished, there was a sense of disappointment that it wasn't going to get worse any more. But then I realised that things couldn't possibly have gotten worse, so well, it ended when it was due to end.

James Hird leaving was a bit like waiting for Godot. I just never believed it would happen. And when it finally did finally happen, it was a real anti-climax, because I didn't believe it was real.

Carlton winning the wooden spoon was a particularly delightful treat. Look at my username. I grew up as a Collingwood supporter getting hung sh_t on by Carlton supporters because THEIR team never won a wooden spoon!

Schadenfreude is an ugly word, and it is quite an unbecoming quality in people. And yet...it feels so good.

It is ugly in both meaning and appearance . And coming from the Germans who are famous for their lack of humor, makes it so appropriate .

Hawthorn is not gone yet. too early to call but I do expect the poo and wee to be flushed out of the finals next week.

"Schadenfreude", is that Scharenberg's new nickname?:drunk:

I'm hoping the best is still to come;

"Hawthorn's premiership streak coming to a spectacular end"

I hate Geelong. I grew up there. I loathe their smug supporters.
Rd 22 was bliss.
Nothing comes close although today I only realised how much I truly hate Richmond

You think the Germans are without humour? Beethoven's symphony no. 2 has some moments of satirical whimsy, if you care for that sort of thing, but their national dance and costume are thigh-slappingly funny as well.

I'm in favour of schadenfreude. I make a plea for schadenfreude. It is ugly, but I demand the right to delight in Carlton's crapness. I demand the right to delight in the fact that they poached one of our players and our ex-coach and thereby ran themselves into a ditch. I don't delight in Daisy's troubles, but I love that his problem is now Carlton's problem. Schadenfreude is complex in that way!

Carlton spoon, Brisbane basket case, Richmond out in 'straight set'... life is good...
Fingers crossed hawthorn next

First half of the season was all about Carlton's/Mick's spectacular fall.

Second half of the season was all about Essendon/Hird's spectacular fall.

First week of finals has been all about Richmond's spectacular fall.

We may not have made the finals, but the gods have been kind.

I have first hand experience, they might not be completely without humor but overall their sense is cringeworthy. I might be a bit biased though.

Hang on a min
Germans lack humour
I see nothing to believe that
I know knowing to believe that
And the humour in richmond is breath takingly funny

I'm not a fan of national stereotypes myself. National cultures sometimes create some general characteristics, but these tend to get blown out of proportion. I know lots of Americans with a keen sense of irony. The Poms I know don't whinge at all. The Irish I've known have been neither violent, drunken, or overly sentimental.

As for the Germans, they've had/caused some problems over the past 100 years, but humourlessness is not one of them.

This thread is distracting me from the orgy of schadenfreude which can be found on Richmond's board.

You do know I am Dutch and lived roughly 35 years next to them? We were blessed with English, French and German television. Somehow German comedy was never featured. I will admit they have some humor but it has been only since the younger generations and certainly not enough to overcome the stereotype. Let alone they can handle to be on the receiving end.
But back to the Richmond board. It is like an episode of Jackass. Full of self inflicted pain but oh so funny.
