WHAT THE CLUB NEEDS: A hard-nosed midfielder to help a young side develop. Said to be looking at Ben Cousins to fill the role.

Draft picks: 11, 29, 45, 61, 77, 93, 109
Possible trade bait: Rhyce Shaw
BEST-CASE SCENARIO: Pick up Cousins at a steal in pre-season draft and bring Ryan O'Keefe to the club for second-round draft pick and Rhyce Shaw.
LIKELY OUTCOME: Cousins comes to the Magpies while O'Keefe remains at the Swans.
RUMOUR FILE: Alan Didak, Heath Shaw and Rhyce Shaw are possible trade options after a mid-season indiscretion.

Prismall considers options

Samantha Lane and Michael Gleeson | October 6, 2008

THE two-year deal Geelong has offered Brent Prismall has not convinced the emerging midfielder that his opportunities to play senior football wouldn't be greater elsewhere.
While the Cats said yesterday that the 22-year-old 25-gamer, who required major knee surgery after the qualifying final, would have held his position in the Cats' grand final side had he not been injured, Prismall is open to a move.
North Melbourne and Melbourne are believed to head the list of interested parties in Prismall, who, according to his manager, would be fit to return by mid-season next year at the latest but could even be fully recovered by round one.
"The knee is a recent frustration, but Brent has had a couple of years where he has lacked opportunities, being the first man out of the side, and is now seriously considering his options after approaches from a number of clubs," Tom Petroro of Stride sports management said yesterday. "With his knee he'll be back by round 12 at the latest and there is a real possibility he could be right to go by round one.
"The knee makes the decision harder because he was in the senior team at the time he did it, and we don't know if he would have played in the grand final or not."
A 2006 debutant who managed just five senior outings — from rounds one to five — in Geelong's premiership season last year, Prismall had to wait until round five to get his call-up this year. His next senior outing did not come until round 11, when he was given a three-match run. In round 16, however, Prismall began his longest sequence of matches for the Cats until he was injured in Geelong's first final.
"You can never say for sure, but he hadn't done anything wrong and I couldn't see any way that he was not going to be in the (grand-final) side," Cats football manager Neil Balme said yesterday. "We're keen for him to stay and given that he's suffered the injury that he did, we're really keen to stick with him and see him through it. But it's up to him to decide what he wants to do."

O'Keefe would be a good get if we didn't have to give away much but isn't the type of player we are desperate for, so no thanks, Dave.

That secnario makes no sense, they agree we need a hard nosed midfielder yet feel we will only trade for O'keefe and not harris or thomson.

Some shit journalism me thinks

Agree Optimax.

Plus I think Cousins is more of a powdered nose midfielder.

Shit attempt at humour FIGJAM..... shit attempt!!!! lol
