We all know who the best player in the competition is, that's obvious, but Selwood is closing fast.

Swan is daylight behind those 2 players in terms of sheer ability, effectiveness and leadership.

I'm actually surprised people still rate a player who's foot skills are 'average' (yes average) or fails to pay any respect to his opponent. I'm also surprised you rate your own captain, or Pendlebury below.

The Saints gave me 7 from 8 tips, happy days.:)

Selwood is good but until he wins a brownlow ...

By the way, ASADA investigation aside, where do you rate Jobe Watson?

You do realise it's Round 1? I know you think Essendon has won the premiership already......or St.Kilda, whoever you go for now anyway.

I didn't watch alot of the game tonight but when I did I thought Jack Watts looked really good. Promising atleast for Melbourne supporters.

Coming from a Swans fan who suffered the most embarrassing loss of the season against GWS. The lid isnt off at Tullamarine. We play Hawks on Friday Night. Always great to get a win in round 1 especially when everyone has written you off from day 1.

Saints are my 2nd team only due to the fact this lady friend goes for them and I 'like' her. I don't usually mix business with pleasure but she's also the Swamprats massage lady.

I don't rate the Brownlow and for reasons which would take too long to explain.

Top 10 somewhere.

I'm still waiting for Eth to bring up the stats that show how Melbourne had so much of the ball (Swan logic) yet with little effect.

Sorry Wise Guy Sam and Marlowe, truly feel for you guys.
Here's a stat that will do it, possessions by tall forwards on our list:
-Clark: 0
-Dawes: 0
-Hogan: 0
-Gawn: 0
-Fitzpatrick: 4

Here's another: Goals kicked by defenders who had to play in the forward line due to our lack of tall forwards:
-Terlich: 1
-Pedersen: 0
-McDonald: 0

Even with those two stats, we could have won if it weren't for yips the size of Bass Strait.

Firstly, Brownlow or not is irrelevant, plenty of brilliant players went their whole careers without winning one, for example, Andrew McLeod, many regard him as the greatest aboriginal player of all time and arguably the best player to wear a Crows jumper yet, no Brownlow.

Secondly, I rate him highly, but he hasn't got that extra bit that Ablett, Dangerfield and co. have. He is a large contributor to winning games but doesn't win them on his own like the absolute best can.

AWOL last season were you?

You're talking about Selwood right? He definitely would win them (as in disposal, win the game off his own boot) like the absolute best can.

He single handedly won us at least 4 games last year, and I think it's fair to say that without him on Thursday night you'd have rolled us.

No thanks. Give me Michael Long any day of the week.

Who would have along side of you in a battle on the field when the chips are down?

Watson, Selwood would definitely be amongst the best the league has to offer here

Some one that doesn't duck and play for a free kick would be 1 of the options I'd go for in looking for a decent player to play along side me.

Obviously I am. What he has also done after retirement proves my point. Polly next for me.
What he's done post-football means jack when discussing who is the greatest indigenous player of all time. On-field exploits only please.

Disappointing that your bark isn't as good as your bite, Eth :D
#****youbeez :(

Not great when Luke Shuey's your second highest goalkicker from three quarters.
