An art that unfortunately with how the game is played these days is being lost to uncontested marks. So if you have any good pack or contested marks then post them here. Lets start it with the all time best CHF, whose contested marking despite shoulder injuries is a site to behold.

There's a picture I saw once of Gary Ablet Sr. He's taking a pack mark above a crowd of players. He is so far above them he looks like he's floating in mid-air, perfectly balanced, miles away from the grasping arms beneath him.

If anyone could find this pic I would be much obliged.

Not many can take a good grab. Only two I have seen consistently take grabs like those two at the moment. J.Brown and the current #23 for St Kilda, Kosi, he seriously does not drop anything, also possibly Pav but not to the extent of Carey.

There are no great one on one contests that carey produced, The holding of the arm and one hand grab is his trademark.

Flooding has a part to do with it. Pav started to show some very special marks, regular pack marks actually, in the last half of the season when he played closer to goals. I know against us he put on an exhibition. I disagree with riewoldt, although i remember one game though when he played closer to goals against melbourne i think it was he put on a show. So he has potential. Kosi, brown and pavlich are the three that have the most potential in contested marking today i think.

Yes, and so does the no-risk possession game. The ball does not move nearly as fast (or, more appropriately, as long) now as it used to.
With that Ablett mark, I know the one as I have a poster of it somewhere. It's against the Eagles when they were in their old inside-out colours, right?

Carey's game against the Dees back in 96......there was one mark down at the punt road end of the G.....he had the sit....and very easily just jumped up on the top of the pack and took the mark

22 kicks
9 handballs
15 marks
3 tackles
11 goals
2 behinds
209 Dream team points

Spot on, Ablett took the mark round 1, 1988, there's a million pics of it everywhere, surely there's one online somewhere.

At the moment, the only players who specialize in the area of contested marks are Tarrant, Pavlich, Brown, Hall, S&A Rocca, N.Thompson, Gehrig and........??

Tarranty's mark against Melbourne in 2001 was a ripper.

No mark was taken but notice each players attack at the contest. The superior player attacks the contest with vigour, while warren Tredrea, as he so often does in finals, looks all at sea.
