Can anyone remember a more toothless bowling attack from a touring team in recent memory? Genuinely looks shield level at best.
Atkinson I reckon is talented. Tongue balls good rocks but too many bad ones in-between. Carse is a T20 player who is in the team presumably for his neo alpha male qualities (as demonstrated by his big boy pocket full of cash incident), certainly not his bowling anyway. Potts who knows. Jacks is another T20 player who, whatever his credentials with the bat, would struggle to get a game as a no. 1 spinner at many first grade pennant sides let alone in the shield...

Wood and Archer at their best with some decent pace back up and a decent spinner would make a formidable attack. Unfortunately for England Wood and Archer are past their best and just not durable enough for a 5 test tour of Australia.

Added to that there is no spinner in their side who looks capable of doing any better than Jacks.

Going forward into the future England will need to find some decent bowling options in a hurry.

Losing Wood and Archer has left them very vanilla.

When Wood went down Archer struggled under the increased work load he had to carry.

At least we have been able to cover for Cummins in the first two tests and Hazelwood for the series so far.

You can only beat who they put in front of you but I don't think we should get too carried away with our batting given the quality of the bowling opposition.

The fact England were talking themselves up and then went on a bender in Noosa for four days after the second test shows their overinflated opinion of themselves.

It will be interesting how they respond in the Boxing Day test but it would be a major turnaround for them to be competitive.

Poor Archer; never seemed fit enough for tests, but did show endeavour and guts.

Did wince at the newspaper write-up which said “…Archer has been one of England’s best players, taking 9 wickets…”. Yep, 1.5 wickets per innings as their fastest bowler is apparently notable as a good performance. Ouch.

Archer ruled out of the rest of the series. 👀
Either his pillow is getting washed at the dry cleaners.

Or he needs to go back home to collect some more gold chains for christmas.

In a way its a bit of a shame we have been robbed of Smith v Archer theatre since the Gabba and even then since 2019 that was the only real moment those 2 have been at each other since Lords.

Anyway Smudge is 0/130 off him and Jofra looks consigned to never getting him out in a test match.

That'll make Christmas Day for those with black and gold glasses on.

Just wait until they add a second spinner to the squad for Sydney and it's Kuhnemann.
Wouldn't that make sense as he is not a right arm off-spinner, unlike both of the other 2?
Sorry, I have only watched Murphy bowl

Disappointing; gotta find a long-term replacement for Lyon, thought these dead rubber tests would be a good opportunity to start on that
Its a piss weak decision really.

The way most countries outside of the sub-continent are treating spinners atm with no respect putting no development into them either.

Plus why is it a green top.

Last thing CA need is a 3 day test match ffs.

There are enough Australian cricketers at CA that they would rather win 5 nil than get the extra money from day 5.
