The aussie test team

picking the team for the 1st test seemed the hardest thing for the selectors this summer.

the only change from the 5th test in england was s.clark out for hauritz.

from that point i had a feeling not much would change in the team over the summer as i thought the aussies would win both series.

we used 14 players over the 6 tests and only because of injury it seems.

bollinger came in for hilfy
mckay came in for siddle
hughes came in for katich.

it seems m hussey had enough credits in the bank and the selectors weren't prepared to end hussey's career here(quite possibly because ferguson was injured). in saying that he's had a reasonable summer. it now might get tricky having hussey, katich and ponting all about the same age. katich and hussey may well be done this time next year.

should've the selectors dropped the likes of north & siddle and perhaps haddin during the summer?

we now have 6 tests before the ashes comes about next summer to get our team in order.

2 v nz in nz
2 v pak in eng
2 v bang in aust (top end series)

i'm not sure the selectors will do alot between now and then, other than blood some players via one dayers and 20/20's.

Siddle for Hilf.

Assuming another failure in the next Pakistan Test, North out for either Hughes, that Khawaja kid or one of the Marshes (Ferguson would be in the mix but for injury - he can wait until next Summer and then come in for Huss).

Aside from that, the side looks pretty settled.
