...are starting to annoy me.

Their relentless joyous singing in the face of another appalling defeat is all a bit too good humoured. They've all had a few too many happy pills, or does a combination of beer and sunstroke induce delirium?

They are the Ned Flanders to the Aussie cricket team's Homer Simpson.

Bring back the days when they got pelted with meat pies and plastic glasses.

And why do they suddenly start roaring just when a bowler is turning round to begin his run up? It's disconcerting.

Agreed. I was most annoyed at Perth when they refused to acknowledge Australia's victory and series win, they just kept singing as the last wicket was taken. One English supporter on here had the audacity to tell us that it was a sign of class because they were still singing. What rubbish, what poor losers. And singing? Well that's all fine and good, but is it really helping when 90% of your songs are about your self? Barmy army barmy army barmy army.... blah blah blah, what about supporting your team fellas, instead of just trying to bignote yourselves? Class? I don't think so.

Bollocks, they were singing about themselves, the final wicket fell mid-song, they just kept going, how is that thanking the England team?

No they weren't your just one of the many dumb sh*t aussies who doesn't know anything about supporting teams. Thats why our country is an embarrissment and supports stupdi sports like swimming.

They were thanking the England team for the efforts thats what it ment by chanting Barmy Army all the time.

English is your friend.

"Barmy Army, Barmy Army, Barmy Army etc etc" that means "Thank you England for a pathetic effort in the Ashes so far, 3-0 after 3 tests and after waiting 20 years to get the Ashes back you give them back after 1"?

So I can go to the cricket and just chant jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza jezza and I'm better than everyone else? Rubbish. How about acknowledging the winning side and showing a bit of class in defeat?

And if you think our country is an embarrasment, you have a lot of learning to do. Because we don't sing mindlessly all day, not actually worrying about what's happening out there on the field? And I don't know if you've realised or not, but we follow sports like cricket and football too.

I was surprised at the happiness expressed towards the England cricket team when they walked over to The Barmy Army after a disappointing 3-0 Ashes defeat in Perth - I would be fuming if I happened to be in their shoes.

At least you can't question their commitment, they hang around in hard times as well, which is impeccable support.

They do well to support their team, i will give them credit for that, but cheering constantly despite their team putting up disappointing performances... is that accepting mediocrity?

Cultural thing, you stick with your team through thick and thin and have some fun whilst at it.

Aussies tend to bag and abuse teams when they don't do well... same players treated differently depending on result.

Be interesting to see public reactions when we start losing a few test matches.

I don't bag my teams, and believe me i've been through tough times with my local footy team in the SANFL, but cheering when your team is getting flogged is not always a good thing. I wouldn't clap my footy team off the ground after losing by 20 goals.

Cheering and singing are different... again a cultural thing.

I used to love going to the football in UK when I lived there and listen to the opposing fans chanting and singing insults at each other.

They are very witty and very funny.

I saw Tottenham beat Leister City 3-0 and the LC fans after the game were sining "We only lost 3 nil" over and over. They were beaten 7-0 the previous match by Man U.

We were killing ourselves laughing when they launched into that little ditty.

THe atmosphere at the football in England is fantastic i must admit, it is a lot different over here and they don't mind taking the piss.

Being a Cardiff supporter i went and saw Cardiff play at Watford and we went 1-0 up, the Bluebird supporters sang "1-0 to the Sheep Shaggers" over and over again which was a good laugh.

People go to support their team, win or lose, and have a lot of fun doing it. I support Spurs and lived at Southend for a period so saw quite a bit of Premier and Div1/2 football.

I like it how people support the town they are from rather than migrate to larger, more popular teams.

Also did quite a bit of travelling to Newcastle with work... man is that a great stadium to watch football at.

As likka says it's a cultural thing, the English way is to get behind the team even more & sing louder the heavier the defeat.

Barmy Army are doing England proud today.

As for the roar at the delivery of the ball - you'll notice it's only for the pitcher Brett Lee ("No Ball!")

You have to like getting wet before you can be good at swimming. Rules England out.

Wow, what front you got ! You've got a dart player taking wickets for Sri Lanka and you have the gall to bag Brett Lee for throwing ???????????????????

I love them. I love it how they are all about pride in who they support and who they are with and it's not just sitting there like boring souls watching their side win.

I loved their cheering today, it was like they were the only supporters at the ground.

Their chanting during the presentation was very similar to the Freo supporters booing Judd.

Yeah, I was at the ground and I really would liked to have heard Ponting and especially Warne speak.
My mate knows someone in the Barmy Army and he sent him an SMS to tell the Barmy Army to shut up. :p
