I've alwyas loved 'em, dad's influence I guess. But I've alwyas been more of a fan of their early, pop stuff, than their hippy era stuff. Just personal preference I guess.

Anyway...

The Get Back clip preformed on the roof of the Apple building is one of my favourites.

But I like this one better:

It's not hard to imagine how much this song rocked when it came out. It still has energy today.

You tube tag no working. Don't know why. Here's a link

also possibly the best drinking sing-a-long song ever... Hey Jude

Seems there's a new Beatles thread every week on here. And that's the way it should be :)

Yeah bunsen, Get Back is awesome and while Let It Be overall wasn't their strongest album it still had that classic late 60s feel to it and still had 3 absolute classics on there (Get Back, Let It Be, I've Got a Feeling). I've Got a Feeling rocks just as hard as Get Back :thumbsu:

Oribably one of my favourite Beatles albums. Across the Universe is quite a well known song too.

So many great songs.

My personal faves are Norwegian Wood and You've got to hide your love away.

I was so pissed off when that bogan ******** Pearl Jam covered You've got to hide your love away.

Talk about butchering the classics.

Hard Days Night is also a great movie.

Magical Mystery Tour was somewhat of a rush job, recorded during a troubled and tragic time for the beatles after death of Epstein, etc. It has a few good songs, but the singles from the period were tacked onto the album, with a couple of experiemental tracks, the Harrison ones. I am The Walrus and Fool on the Hill are decent tracks recorded for the album.

This is similar to the songs that were to be on the Yellow Submarine album, some were from the Pepper sessions and others left overs.

That is why, as an album, MMT and YS do not compare to the beatles best although a few brilliant songs were on there.

Strawberry Fields Forever? All You Need Is Love?
Can't stand either song but by no means the worst tracks on that record. Ever listened to Flying, Blue Jay Way, and Baby You're a Rich Man?

Hello Goodbye and the title track are acceptable songs.

I love Stawberry Fields, how can you not? Ben Harper did a very good version of it also.

I think Let It Be was an underrated album, just listening to it today. The Naked version is better, mainly for the fact it sounds polished and more professional (which can be a pro and a con) - The Long and Winding Road is a song that's arranged better on Naked than the original (even though there aren't many differences in most of the songs).

It sounds great remastered, why the hell hasn't the rest of the Beatles' catalogue undergone this treatment? I want to hear songs like Taxman without the woeful panning they used to make it sound better for mono listeners.

Those youtube clips are great. Gotta say they make me remember stuff in the 60's and 70's that had been buried for a long time.
Like they say if you remember them you didn't live them. Cheers and thanks for the memories. ;)

In that clip for "Help!" that rJ posted, it's hilarious how all of them are smiling...Lennon wrote that song when he was in a depressed state. Maybe a bit of intended irony there, or did they think noone would listen to the lyrics?

Great song, great band. My favourite album at the moment would be Rubber Soul - I thought it was average on the first listen but songs like Michelle (which sounded sappy at first) have grown on me. The album flows very well and has great sequencing as well.

The most overrated would have to be Sgt. Pepper's. It has such a great opening, the theme song and "A Little Help" was the perfect way to start the album. While there are many great songs (Lucy, Getting Better, When I'm 64, Within You) there are a few weak spots (Fixing a Hole, Good Morning) and the fact the album doesn't really sound like a concept album at all...they could have done so much more with it. Maybe it's rated so highly because of "A Day in the Life" and the impression that leaves as the album closer.

Best band of all time. Will never be beaten

The quality music they came up with is such a short space of time is phenomenal.

Abbey Road is my favourite album, followed by Revoler & Sgt Peppers.

I want you (she's so heavy) is one if my all time favourite songs, lennon genius at its best there.

Other favourites are You Never Give Me Your Money, Something, Get Back, Help!, Tomorrow Never Knows, Dear Prudence and While My Guitar Gently Weeps

I once read a quote about the "Let it Be" album that summed it up well.

"It was an average Beatles album, but an average Beatles album is better than 99% of other bands best albums"

the greatest band of all time by the length of the flemington straight

end of story
They changed the world. This alone gives them greatness.

Approximately 13 years later another band changed the world. The Sex Pistols. "The Sex Pistols, Manchester, 4 June 1976: a gig that inspired a generation to make their own music, and arguably changed the world forever. Such was the power of punk." Here

Other musicians continued their work and do it better, but the pioneers who should get the recognition.

I remember discovering the Beatles music when i was in high school in the mid 80s. somebody had a video of A Hard Days Night and we'd watch it over and over again. i love the way you can hear songs of theBeatles 1000 times then all of a sudden you hear it like your hearing it for the first time and it becomes your new favourite. For me it was songs like You've got to hide your love away, Something, and Oh Darling. Haven't listened to them for ages, I should go and rediscover them again.
