the white album (BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME!@#$) - has the greatest variety and lyrically is the most impressive. songs like rocky racoon, piggies, happiness is a warm gun are unbelievable strengthened by the fact they were not aimed at the lucrative commercial market.

this is lennon's stripped down response to mccartneys elaborate peppers and i personally think that he tops it.

recorded at a time where the members musical and personal directions were evolving its unbelievable that they produced an album of such quality. ringo left for 2 weeks and paul drums on the opening 2 tracks of disc 1. while george brough clapton is brought in to straighten the egos of john and paul.

they recorded the 30 songs of superior quality plus hey jude and several songs that never apppeared till later solo albums and anthology 3 (the new mary jane, not guilty, junk) in a time period that matured bands struggle to make a hit single. consider the chilli peppers took 4 years to record their double album.

revolver - tomorrow never knows and got to get you into my life are mind blowing. it is like no rock album preceeding it. the writers were smoking pot, harrison comes of age and ringos drumming in tomorrow never knows is sick! had the white album not had 30 tracks on it it would be my #1

peppers - can always listen to it, no real weak song on the album. strawberry fields from the pepper sessions is the best song that came out of this period. weakened perhaps by too many mccartney throw away songs. as lennon recalled at the meeting for the session mccartney had upteen songs he was ready to record implying that there was no depth to them.

rubbersoul - the double a-side single (day tripper/we can work it out) are full of pop melodies and riffs that had been stolen 1000000s of times. the musical direction change over this album. In my life is perhaps the greatest song ever written.

abbey road - its amazing how a band that had broken up in the let it be/get back sessions could conjure up a record like this. lennon did the a-side and mccartney the catchy b-side; ringo finally performs his 1st drum solo and harrison releases his 2 finest songs to date.

Magical Mystery Tour was neer released as an album until much later, the Yanks did it.

It was actually released as a double EP.

Apart from Harrison's Blue Jay Way it is a great set.

Listen to WIthin You WIthout You on the new Love album. I never liked this song until recently. It is beautiful as is the new verison of WHile My Guitar Gently Weeps.

You realise the Beatles were geniuses, and then way down below Beatle music there was everyhting else.

Within You Without You sounds pretty good mixed with Tomorrow Never Knows - a perfect match. While My Guitar on the Love album used a different take of the song, sounds great with the new string arrangement. And Strawberry Fields Forever is another acoustic take - sounds beautiful.

The great thing about the Beatles is their consistent high quality of output - they had their share of weaker songs but even those are listenable.
