A close match indeed Lyn
I think so too, Newbie 11. I will keep on my quest to have him investigated.
Convicted child sex offender - Tick
Fits profile - tick
Can place him at Glenelg around the time - tick
Modus Operandi - both genders and age - tick
- grooms children by gentle persuasion - tick
- can easily manipulate a group of children - tick
- money no object - tick
Frustrating.
Thanks again

Seeking opinions on legal precedents in criminal cases in South Australia. Does SA have a higher than average bar for requiring proof in criminal prosecution? Is propensity less or more valued?

Could this be a micro reason, part of the fabric, for police seeming unwillingness or inability to prosecute in so many of these cases?
It depends on the type of crime you are talking about. In regard to child sex offences, predators were virtually protected in SA, prior to the early 2000s, there was a statute of limitation of three years on reporting these offences to police. Given that historically, most victims did not report these crimes until adulthood, most sex offenders could not be prosecuted - even if they admitted guilt. Also, the law was that if a child did report it; if the offence couldn't be corroborated by another adult, the perpetrator only had to say it didn't happen and the case was dead ( even though it is very, very rare for a child to falsely report sex offences). This is why there was an avalanche of reports and convictions in the mid 2000s.

In regard to cases like the Beaumont, or other cold cases, that is something completely different.

Some believe that some cases weren't prosecuted as perpetrators were being protected by influential people. There was the risk of them being named in some way.
Sorry - to be continued

Closing in on the Anniversary of the disappearance. The coldest of cold cases!
I wonder if police will close the case off. Give us a summary of their investigations over the years.
Possibly, saying it's impossible to crack, with no real suspect on their books.

Well if Andrew McIntyre is anything to go by, he just dropped bombs in his most recent accusation video. I love that his evidence chalks up to “I saw a lot, so there’s that.”

I watched an account of an assault he received age 1. No child will remember that. He is obviously crackers.

I noticed a comment on a recent post by Bryan Littley where he says his team spoke to relatives of the Wenzel Bakery shopkeeeper who seem to be saying the shopkeeper could not have remembered what the children purchased. Because you don’t remember specific purchases like that.
This is the sighting where the shopkeeper who knew the children noticed they used the one pound note and bought a pie “for the man”.
I thought that was strange that relatives would say that after all these years. If they weren’t actually there.

Fair warning don’t mention Bryan if you don’t want to be accosted by him while he actively tells you he doesn’t care about the forums, whilst simultaneously threatening you and your family.

Pretty sure the bakery stuff came from
The satin man authors no way you’d remember what they purchased and who’s to say it was even the Beaumont children could have been other kids.

the menzels thing came in 1967. I remember the police presser. the detective didn't look too convinced.
I posted a link to an old, archived report from it. it can be found a long way back in the forum

The understanding I had was the shopkeeper knew the kids well and knew what they normally purchased so the meat pie for the man was something that stood out to them.
Those authors had access to one of the first detectives on the case.
But this is why I asked because I’m curious now where this report came from.

In the crime stoppers page about the case the Wenzels Cake Shop is listed as one of 3 “confirmed” sightings,
So I’m unsure if this question is being raised about what they bought or if they were even there at all.

You forgot SAPOL.

Oh thats right, they have given up years ago...
It appears they have, and I'm really keen to understand how this works. We recently heard NSW police state they don't want to use resources on Wanda Beach when they could work on 'solvable' cases instead.

Entirely the wrong attitude, IMHO.

Do state police departments get to choose what they do and don't work on? I appreciate they have finite resources, which is why I'm an advocate of a third party for cold cases, a national body with funding to keep these cases alive when local LE have lost the trail.

Do any such third parties exist for investigating cold cases on a national level? Does anyone know? Id be more than happy if my tax dollars funded this.

The lost the DNA sample on Wanda. More incompetence.

Despite public interest in certain cold cases, I think the public would expect that if there is a time conflict, resources are put into protecting alive people from currently alive bad people.
Said with all due respect to the loved ones impacted for years not getting answers.
Statistically about 10% if murders go cold. Some just become unsolvable after a period of time, sadly.
