Probably more related to the thread on the Adelaide Oval disappearances, I have followed BL on Facebook for a while now and have recently finished listening to his podcast series. While his approach is a bit tangential and at time he seems to try and steer the narrative with interviewees a bit, as a neutral I am impressed by the new information he has been able to bring to light including the links between Hart and other newly uncovered POI along with links to other convicted PDFiles. There are also some higher up names that have been alluded to that would absolutely blow up on a state and federal level if proven to be more than salacious scuttlebutt - the episode in which he talks to one of PL's victims from the surf club about his experiences at the disco particularly springs to mind.

In regards to the bone findings and the post above (not to mention SAPOL) questioning the veracity of MTM's claims, I think it is too easy to write these off as insane ramblings (play the ball not the man) particularly when the map clearly directed to a hidden dam tunnel which SAPOL were unwilling or unable to locate. While the bone being ruled out stops a neat little bow being wrapped around the case, I am more interested in the barrel contents (and the apparent unwillingness of SAPOL to test this). IMO if any remains are to be found they are likely to be in the barrel and not buried at the farmhouse. Until the barrels are ruled out I think there is plenty of life in this theory and his team has done more to advance this case - in the public eye at least than SAPOL has in the last 50 years. Intriguing to say the least.

I could be wrong but I think there was some inconclusive results from testing of the barrels. Whether that was SAPOL or Bryan’s team I can’t recall. A barrel sample was the evidence lost by SAPOL and SAPOL admitted that was on them. That frustration of that evidence being lost lead to the cutting of the bone. Noting it seems to me that what was cut was tiny compared to what was left and doesn’t seem like enough to wreck the sample, as SAPOL have claimed.
So many years have passed that I fear that nothing useful to the case could be gotten out of the barrels. And if they don’t find anything else on the property then what next? That bone came from a very specific location based on very specific intel that’s now yielded nothing it seems. Is the intel bad? Did they miss stuff in the dig? How long with the property owner humour the team digging up the joint?
Which brings me back to the source of this, Marshall’s original story that’s lead to other avenues of inquiry (fine) but nothing conclusive (yet) and me suggesting the more time they spend on this one theory may be losing time they could be putting into something new (new cold case or a new angle on the AO case) if only they chose to move on from Yatina.
I agree don’t play the man but at what point would you at least stop and question are we giving this dude’s original story too much credence? Is 20 years long enough?
It may be what his story has lead them to is bigger than the original crime. Fine. Or it may be confirmation bias is leading them to keep seeing shoots of grass that never grow into a lawn.
I am intrigued like you are with their efforts. Going above and beyond.
Acknowledge also that I am sure they are giving comfort to victims of these suspects like Hart through being heard.

I believe they were first uncovered around 2009 by Gypsy Jokers or affiliates with preliminary tests finding traces of acid and haemoglobin after samples were sent overseas where they are still kept. According to BL, SAPOL havent tested further after misplacing the sample originally sent despite apparently being made aware of at least the possibilty of the barrels containing forensic traces. Baffles the mind why SAPOL dont at least rule it out. Either way, as you point out, after well over a decade out in the open (plus the 30 years or however long they were supposedly in the tunnel) I'd imagine the barrel samples would now be in pretty bad shape which makes timely testing a matter of urgency if not already too late.

Regarding pool of suspects. Anyone know the population size of Adelaide or SA around the late 60's, early 70's? Quick Google told me approx 600,000 in Adelaide which while not a small number, decreases the likelihood of the perpetrator being some completely unknown random as there can only be a finite number of suspects who fit the bill, the majority of which I'd imagine have now been identified in the subsequent five decades. It's a chance obviously but in a 'large country town' such as Adelaide, all the suspects and leads would have to be known by now, I can't imagine the perpetrator being some random player or nobody that police or private investigators have yet to come across in 50 years, unless they were a travelling salesman from interstate - which has in fact been brought up as a theory thus pointing to a dearth of possible local suspects.. Albeit in the absence of a smoking gun but with the circumstantial evidence that's been brought to light, my hunch is still that it's Hart - maybe with help, maybe without.

Spitballing regarding the SAPOL 'investigation', i think there are three possibilities.

1. Raised in the BL podcast - SAPOL not being cooperative (at least publicly) because they don't want to be seem to be outdone by PI's or bikers. Definitely got a bit of this vibe in their snarky media release regarding bone tests and leaving investigations to the adults. Most plausible to me.

2. SAPOL actively mothballing the investigation in order to protect someone or something. Dragging their feet, 'losing' evidence, sems unlikely as all key players would likely by dead by now, but from an institutional standpoint plausible especially if one deceased but highly notable SA person who has long been rumoured to be involved is already known to be or can be proven to be tied in. Legacies destroyed, trust in the system shattered in an instant, this would prove to be absolute political dynamite, not just on a state but a federal level, hence the undue political influence possibly being exerted over SAPOL. A bit in the realms of conspiracy but also plausible within the known machinations of power and win at all costs world of realpolitik.

3. SAPOL actually have nothing. Highly unlikely and actually beyond incompetent if true. As said before SA is a large place geographically but from a population standpoint at that time finite in terms of suspects. Most unlikely.

Good! It's only been half a century! I think the people would have a bit more patience if the police had a few more leads and/or were willing to share. The optics just seem like it really isn't a priority and maybe it isn't. Noone alive enough left to chuck in gaol and plenty of modern crimes yet to be solved.. But still...can't just rely on the passage of time leading to everyone just forgetting and moving on.

I believe police tested the bones in a timely and correct manner.

Like it seems as thou they assume DNA analysis works the way it’s portrayed on TV, but it doesn’t. In reality, obtaining DNA from skeletal material is a destructive process. To extract genetic material, we gotta grind it to dust and then chemically dissolve it to release whatever DNA is present. So once processed, unless you got more to test from, (which in this case there probably would'nt be) —that's it, its gone. Game over. Theres no going back

Oh well.. that's a great way to shoot yourself in the foot if you wanted to get any University to assist with any analysis.. like Australia is a very small place —if you're well respected in your field, then everybody knows you as their peer

This is why I worry about the intel source playing games. I think he’s scattered truthful breadcrumbs like the location of these barrels but surrounded it with fantasy (such as what’s in the barrels). Just enough truth breadcrumbs to tease out a team of investigators for 20ish years and still ongoing.
The team respond by saying they’ve since found more leads unrelated to Marshall’s statement. Was the bone location one of these new leads?

I noticed a comment on a recent post by Bryan Littley where he says his team spoke to relatives of the Wenzel Bakery shopkeeeper who seem to be saying the shopkeeper could not have remembered what the children purchased. Because you don’t remember specific purchases like that.
This is the sighting where the shopkeeper who knew the children noticed they used the one pound note and bought a pie “for the man”.
I thought that was strange that relatives would say that after all these years. If they weren’t actually there.

Relatives of the Wenzel Bakery shopkeeper? That's a bit like Chinese whispers.
If the children were regulars and known to the shopkeeper, I am sure she would remember what they bought. The pound note may also be out of the norm, triggering her memory.

1. Impulse Killer - someone came across them and wanted to help them and something happened where it meant all 3 kids had to die. I posted a scenario a long time ago I call the David Smith Theory

This also fits them making it home in time to see something going on in the house

I struggle to connect a group of sex offenders all taking a child each - and maybe thats my hope that there was never a group like that around

2. Adoption Grab - kidnapped and made into an instant family or individually separated. This lends itself to the jockey and friends sighting

Interesting the Satan Man writers are arguing their case about one pound note... again!
Really weird because the Wenzell sighting is not fully backed up by other witnesses. It's only the chick behind the counter that said she seen the kids in the store. No other customers or staff have backed up her claims.
They also claim Cotten didn't have the means to be able to carry a one pound note. They must have a hell of a time machine, to look in Bills wallet on the day.
