I was trying to look at who in the AFL can legitimately claim to be a draft guru.

I couldn't find the details easily, so I thought maybe the bright-sparks in here could hive-mind it :)

I'm guessing to start to judge it - we might need for each recruiter:
  • Seasons in charge
  • top 5 picks
  • other 1st Round picks
  • 2nd Round picks
  • 3rd+ Round picks
  • Rookie picks
With each of these groups show:
  • Average games played
  • Father-Son
  • Academy
  • # Players that played over 100
  • # Players that played over 200
  • # Players that played over 300
  • Maybe some individual award count too?
For Example:

Marty McPickalot
  • 7 seasons
  • 3 top 5 picks
    • Avg = 27.3 games
    • 1 Father-son
    • 1 played over 200
    • 1 Brownlow
  • 4 other 1st Round picks
    • Avg = 73.7 games
    • 1 played over 300 games
  • 10 2nd Round picks
    • Avg = 112.4 games
    • 6 played over 100
    • 1 played over 200
  • etc...

Too hard? Wrong stats?

Does anyone have the recruiter data on hand that would allow them to pull this out?

Always tough as there's a lag that can stretch 10-15 years. We've still got blokes recruited by Fantasia haven't we?

Out: Hamish

In: Marty McPickalot!!!

edit: Ok so Fantasia''s fingerprints are long gone (resigned Dec 2006)

You say long gone, but he recruited Mackay who played 18 games just last year. Also, technically he was the man in charge when we signed Taylor Walker to the NSW Scholarship program (Walker's draft year came in Rendell's tenure, though).
