The better defender

Rutten and Bassett are arguably those most underrated pair of defenders in the competition. However who do you think has performed better for us this season?

Wouldn't cast a vote in this poll. They are both going well and they play different roles in defence. Who would you rate last in a back 6 having this good a season? The teamwork in defence has been outstanding and one of the major reasons for our rise this season.

It is almost unfair to split them, but Bassett is in virtual AA form and you can't go past that.

I'd give it to Bassett also, but he owes a great debt of gratitude to Truck for allowing him the long-awaited positional change.

If only we had a Rutten around when Jammo was still playing - talk about taking one for the team for the best part of a decade.

I picked Bassett as well, because he really has had an awesome season and rarely made a mistake.
In saying that tho, Rutten is easily the most improved defender in our side. Rutten was worth nothing this time last season but has really hit his straps since then and become almost an "untouchable" as far as end of season happenings go.

Bassett but its really close. Rutten makes Bassett as effective as he has been. Without Rutten, Bassett wouldn't be having as a good a year as he has.

This is true, and something that has been commented on in the past. However I think that Bassett's willingness to leave his own man and help out Rutten has really helped Rutten claim the scalps he has this year. Therefore both should be in the AA side as a double team!!

You guys would know better than me, but was Bassett off the ground injured when Rutten was molested by Darcy against the Doggies?
