Tonight the Cats fans were given a real glimpse of what's in store for them in the next 3-4 seasons with a raft of new kids playing really really well.

Duncan, Guthries, Smedts, T. Hunt, Murdoch, Sheringham, Walker were all pretty good and when you add in Hawkins & West who are still young, there is the nucleus for them to be a real force once again.

Great list & player management by the Cats people too !!

Good tonight, but there's going to be some pain along the way too (there was last week in fact!). Promising signs from just about all of them tonight, but we're going to need that consistently for the remainder of the year. Still they've all got to get games into them. Smedts played easily his best game so far, and I reckon it's the best game I've seen Duncan play as well (he was my BOG).

I have a mental image of a cartoon for the paper. Theres five birds having a party, eating seed etc (Magpie hawk Crow Swan eagle)
Next fram e ablue and white cat pounces in and the birds scatter

They're baaa-ck

The a bird comes back and takes the puddy tats eyes out

Which bird ? wait and see;)

Definitely have some talent, but Essendon were simply crap.

Pies killed them last week. If they wanted to completely destroy them, they would have.
LOL no. Pies were getting dominated after they destroyed us in the first. The innacuracy hurt us last weekend.

You are kidding right?

I cant stand the Pies, so have no pleasure in talking them up. They owned you and would have murdered you had they needed to. They took the foot off. Watch the replay.

Don't let tonights win cloud your judgement.

We got to a 50 point plus lead in the 3rd quarter, if that is getting dominated after 'being destroyed' in the 1st, it is time for you to get a think brain.

Why wouldn't they have needed to? If they had to lost to us, they would be struggling for a top 4 spot.

Don't be stupid

LOL the final margin was 30 or 31 points and a big discussion point was the scoring shots.

They had the game well and truly sealed. My reference to "needing to" was in relation to them continuing to dismantle you, despite the game being over.

Keep the stupid comments to yourself.

Yet, as Terex said, Collingwood worked to a 50 pt lead in the 3rd quarter. Cue in the rack stuff right there

Seriously, what do you think we are? A bottom 4 team?

Keep the stupid comments to yourself.
No. I say what needs to be said.

I was merely debating a Geelong posters claim that Geelong 'dominated' the game onwards the 1st quarter. If you extend your lead & get to a 50 points plus lead in the 3rd quarter, you can hardly say you 'dominated' onwards the first quarter.

Good to see Geelong playing some kids that look pretty good. I do think there will be that decline, but if they recruit strongly over the next couple of seasons then I would expect them to be back in the good fight sooner rather than later. It will just come down to what kind of gap there is between when the majority of the premiership squad retires and the next batch are ready to play at a high enough consistent standard.

guys 24 and under who didn't play and are best 22 material - Vardy, Menzel, Varcoe, Christensen not to mention the veterans Podsiadly, Bartel, Wojcinski :p

Smedts (sp) is the only one of them with 'A Grade' talent imv, that is the 2012 class.
I wouldn't overlook Guthrie who was picked ahead of Darling for a good reason. Showed toe, skill, vision and agility to sell two dummies, get it back and hit the leading forward off the side of his boot. Almost a Yarran-type pass and play to weave his way out of traffic. Garlett or Walker couldn't put burn Guthrie off this year. Jet.

Wells >>>>>> Hine

Always will be that way.

They gave Guthrie the right number. Even looks like a young Gary Ablett jnr. due to his body shape, speed and appearance.

Yes well done Geelong, good win. With some good senior players out for you, I thought we would be able to win, but your young brigade really stepped it up.

I like the look of Mitch Duncan, and Smedts has something about him, oozes talent.

You guys are definitely not out of the flag race for the next few years yet.
