The contrast between Stanton and Fletch's career got me thinking about the difference between playing heaps of games and being really successful. (Not a malicious swipe at Stants, BTW).
Below is the list of our players who have played in more than 100 EFC wins - The Centurions*. We only have one current player on the list ... and hopefully he can make it to top spot, although it's looking further and further from certain as the weeks go by.
(*cheesy enough?)
I think it would be good to have some sort of reward to recognise when a player makes it onto this list. It's pretty exclusive with only 50 players. We currentl have 5 players with between 144 and 199 games who have yet to make the list. (Hille, Stanton and Jobe are 7, 15 and 26 games short, resp.).
Out of interest, here is the 100 game players (win, lose or draw) ranked by win percentage. Note that 6 of our current 7 100 game players are in the bottom 22 of this list. This isn't surprising given the lean times we have been through, but it does drive bring the point home.
Here is a brief profile of Chris Lambert (top of this list), who must have been a great player to watch: http://australianfootball.com/players/player/chris lambert/6383
It's also good to see one of my faves, Welly, right up that list.
(Note that there are heaps of players omitted at ~~~ in this list. If you want the source just ask. Data from http://stats.rleague.com/afl/afl_index.html)
