Yes we won, I get that. It was good to win the game after a horrible start. Lets get serious though Austin needs to pull his head in big time. He put the season in jeopardy from the start and showed no respect to the jumper tonight.

Fev was average tonight undisciplined from the start, kicked average. Luckily he could kick a few goals so the game wasn't a complete waste of time. He gave away several very poor free kicks.

Armfield
courageous at times but barely did anything else good, he sure stands out though I will give him that. With that hair!

We need to keep a lid on things, we beat an under-manned freo team. I was pumped as any body at the game so don't give me some bs. There are positives WE WON. We need everyone to show respect to the jumper and give it 100% every game. Players need to show that

2 of his 4 free kicks against were from him actually chasing and putting pressure on the opposition, nothing wrong with that, in my book

We are very undisciplined at the moment. - We just don't look like that good a side. But, at least the season isn't lost. :thumbsu:

How old is Austin? 12 or 13? Give the kid a break.

How many people? for how long? have insisted that Aussie gets a consistent run to get some game time up his sleeve. - Then, when he gets a go they want him dropped? Got me ______D:confused:

I'm going to have to disagree. You're probably referring to the one in the first quarter where he rammed Schammer in the back? Sure cost us the ball but it sent a message.

Think Plugger in the 90's or Brown in the 00's. You get in the way and Fev will hurt you. Set a standard for the players too that softness will not be accepted. I thought he tried hard around the ground but yes his kicking was off.

It was an awful colour though.

I know we only beat a crap team but i really think we looked like a great team once we started that gang tackling in the third quarter.

I agree that ya didn't see army that much but jsut because you dont see him much didn't mean he didn't do anything. He did his job well all day and kept the people who he was playing on quiet all day. And he got smashed by a great handball from austin lol

Give AUSTIN A BREAK?
That little ass-clown nearly cost us the game in the 1st quater. Pull your head in. He need to cool off in the bull-ants the rest of the year

One thing to remember,we also were undermanned IMO Bower is a huge loss not to mention Waite.
I wan't impressed with our performance but happy to take the four points.
After watching the Saint & Cats game, hell we're nowhere near them and i'm wondering how long it will be before we will be in their league.

In fairness to Fev, i'm happy for him to give away a couple in our forward line if it invloves chasing and putting a played down with hardness....message is don't touch it again!!

But lets look at Fev, he had an operation last week, had to have injections into his hand and was in obvious pain during the game, i'm sure that the injections created numbness in his fingers which for mine would make it very difficult marking the ball, plus the drop of the ball when kicking in critical that you can feel the ball. So although he didn't kick a bag he had shots on goal, he applied pressure and we got the win.

For what Fev has play with this year, heel and now finger he is doing alright to be doing what he is doing....

1 minute of aggression results in banishment? Fev might as well retire, Setanta can fly back to Ireland and Walker might as well give up.

Thank **** you've got absolutely nothing to do with the Carlton FC.

F-L-O-G!
Give the kid a break. That's right he is a kid. He needs games in our 22 to develop. Thats the only way we will go forward as a club. Will be in the side next weekend. :thumbsu:

I actually sensed some momentum today and will be grumpy if Richmond get within 60 points of us. Of course we win that game by a good margin and these "never happy" threads will continue regardless. Oh well.

So the 10 gamer needs to be dropped, was it his fault ONLY that the Dokcers kicked all those goals, so waht he gave away a free kick that results in a goal, happens every week.

Austin is a key to our future backline, aggression is FANTASTIC, he will learn how to control it if he continues to play, nothing learnt in the two's.

Get off his back.

Just wondering if you were happy with Austin when he laid a tackle in our backline late in the last that resulted in i think Judd getting the ball and moving it forward....gee guess his effort didn't result in saving a potential goal!!!

One not so good game from Austin shouldn't see him omitted from the team. He won't be dropped. Army does have his weaknesses, but what he does provide is some real run and carry from HB, and he does challenge himself by breaking the lines.

What we should remember is that Fremantle pushed Geelong right up until late into the match. We won, and we didn't play well.

God help the opposition who get us when we actually put 4 quarters together.

Did what we needed to do.

2 changes for next week.

In:

A hungry & diciplined pair of Scotland & Stevens

Out: Armfield (just too many skill errors) East Bently (Shocking footballer)

Time to start our run for the finals.... (Richmond, Swans, Collingwood)
Win all 3 & we are 10-7:thumbsu:

couldnt agree more with this thread, whilst the win was a relief the reality is we were very ordinary today, against very ordinary and understrength opponent who always get up for he games against us, and there are still some worrying signs, there are too many players in this side who rely too heavily on their teammates, our disposal needs to improve dramatically, I just wish Gibbsy could be the one to dispose of the ball every time the ball is in the hands of a blues player cos he rarely wastes it

It certainly is hard to know. Sometimes (on paper at full strength) I think we could beat anyone but most of the time I think we have no better credentials than many other contenders - wishing to get up there with the Big boys

The only cold hards fact are that Glen Jakovich is the worst commentator around and Juddy is a freak!

Was a tough gig today and the team dug deep
Did a lot wrong but still worked hard and won
Will take it when we looked dead in the water
Ballatyne - I hate that bloke!

Ummmm. Ok... Am i the only one that thought Aussie was really good when the heat was on in the second half? I'd be really annoyed if he gets dropped, regardless of form, at any stage during the rest of the season.

Give him a good run and see where we sit after 22 rounds. After all, if we're not going to win the flag (er, which we're not), then this is a development season, pure and simple. If we're dropping anyone, make it older guys who aren't the future. And Bentley. Sorry, Greg...

Austin won't be dropped. Don't have a good enough KPD to cover him, Bower and Waite out of the team.

Fev had a good game i think, good but not great.

Armfield is great, but he really needs to work on his kicking. Especially long kicks.

Grigg had his best game so far this season. Hopefully his injuries are behind him and he can continue to build upon the great form he had in late 2008.

Both can play VFL,bring in Anderson and Browne while Hartlett should get 1 more try before getting his ticket stamped alongside Bannister,Cloke and Hadley. I hope Edwards can still make it,his still young and could get re rookied if not.
