It's not even that cold. I'm still wearing t-shirts.

This.

I still wear shorts and t-shirts in Perth in Winter, occasionally wear a pullover.

The cold here doesn't bother me compared to Europe and North America where you need to wear layers, beanies, gloves or freeze to death.

I'll go to the supermarket with a doona wrapped around me. Don't shower for as many days as possible too. The build up of sweat (and smeg) is like an extra layer of skin. I also don't mind sleeping in my jeans to keep warm.

Pretty much. I've been working some heavy hours lately, and everyone that comes in whinges about the weather. I go outside to get lunch and I couldn't feel more comfortable. People in this country whinge about any type of weather.

Yeah but Tasmania's not really part of Australia, you're more like part of Antarctica.

Marijuana and Jamesons, gives you a nice warm inner glow.

Jamesons is my favourite whiskey.

When we were on our Paddywagon tour of Ireland I was drinking Jamesons like nobodies business and of course being in Ireland it was in plentiful supply but then we ventured into Northern Ireland to a little town called Ballintoy, it's near the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery which we did a tour of that afternoon getting a few free samples which I didn't rate.

Anyway after doing a pub crawl of Ballintoy that night (two pubs) drinking beer I decided it was time for a whiskey so I went to the bar to order a Jamesons and the crusty old landlord said "We've run out of Jamesons we've only got Bushmills", I was thinking "Yeah that's a likely story buddy, no self respecting pub in Ireland runs out of Jamesons" but I begrudgingly ordered a Bushmills. A little while later last drinks got called so I went up to the bar to order a double whiskey for the road but I was pretty pissed by that stage and forgot they didn't have Jamesons so I ordered a double Jamesons and the crusty old landlord thought I was taking the piss and went off his nut at me "I fookin told ya we don't have fookin Jamesons only Bushmills".

Moral of the story - Don't order Jamesons in Ballintoy.

In Canberra, the winters get pretty cold. When a night is predicted to drop below 3 degrees (enough to potentially keep you awake and ruin your sleep), I often wear track pants and a hooded jumper to bed (I don't have millions of blankets and doonas lying around). It somewhat ruins the pleasure of going to bed, making it seem more like roughing it, but it has to be done.

Also thick bed socks after about 8pm is often a must during the worst months.

I can attest that women feel the cold more than men. A couple years ago, as long as I had ample warmth the cold didn't really bother me. After transitioning a few years back, the nights were harder to deal with (although I also stopped drinking around the same time as well, I used to have a glass of wine at least 2-3 nights a week during winter). I went from finding the summer months unbearable and the winter months ideal, to summer being mostly fine and winter being more troublesome, reflecting a likely minor shift in my temperature acclimatisation.

A lot of my heritage is Irish/Scottish, and I have a family history of blood circulation and clotting disorders, as well as reliably cold hands and feets, so I think the cold will become more of an issue for me in my old age.
