Was this little gem in the HS or similar paper today? It seems that Cricket Australia will be making it that little bit tougher to regain the Ashes or, at least, give players some chance to hit/bowl themselves into some form.

Idiocy, in my humble opinion.

I searched the Advertiser site but it didn't have the story online so I've just typed it. Mods, if this compromises copyright, then it's ok to delete.

First Class Squeeze

Next summer's Ashes campaign is in danger of being compromised by the Big Bash.

So crowded is the program that present indications suggest there will be no Sheffield Shield cricket played after the first Test against England at the Gabba from late November.
This would mean any replacement required in the Test team because of form or injury for the last four Tests will be playing Twenty20 and not first-class cricket.
If the replacement is required for the showpiece Boxing Day and New Year Tests they will not have played red ball cricket for a month or more.

Yep, read that today by Malcolm Conn. Nice article. Its a another fcuking disgrace.

What I didn't know, was that we play India in India next year.

So I put it to you learned gentlemen... and djboonie.. given that both India and England played 2 spinners a piece in each of the first 3 test matches... whos your second spinner to partner Lyon?

I don't think we have one that is test match standard. Craddock put it very well in an article last week that there is an absolute dearth of spinners out there, & they're not being encouraged at either the state or grade/district level.

Jason Krejza mkII anyone?

Skull also commented on the lack of any decent prospects coming through the under age representative sides. Big worry. The skipper may need to roll the arm over a bit and get the odd cheap wicket out of Warner if he's still in the side.... Not ideal, but can't think of a viable alternative.

To quote from a fav movie of mine

"Do you know any good white basketball players?"

Response "there are no good white basketball players."

Johan Botha?

OKeefe is the leading spinner with 9 wickets at 34.55
Hauritz 8wkts @ 38
Beer 8 @ 46
Maxwell 7 @ 25
Zampa 5 @ 9!!! (1 game)
Boyce 5 @ 57
Botha 5 @ 51
Krezja 3 @ 62

You know what people would be really interested in, T20 for retired cricketers.

Gilly, Haydos, Bevan, Ponting, McGrath, Hogg ect. having a fair dinkum crack, not a side show.

Set it up like the Golf & Tennis with their Masters Tours.

Terrible shot from Cowan.

Haven't seen it, but can't be as bad as the decision against Cook yesterday...

What happened with Cook?

In this case, Cowan's execution let him down big time. Just a terrible shot.

Ump fired him out in a shocking decision. Check the highlights on FoxSports... no DRS... Indians were appealing for LBW's in the first session for balls coming off the bat!

Just watched the Cowan replay... Oh dear

Have at look at Sehwag getting cleaned up. I've seen 10 year olds with better defense.
