How can the AFC offer him another year at his age and our rebuild status? We all know he would've played at least 15 games next year if we left him on the list, denying another young player games.

In a way he's actually been one of the main constants of my early adulthood (in a way that Phil Hughes also should have been RIP).

It's going to be odd personally with him not there.

Is Lynch more replaceable than Mackay for his output? I don't think so. Talia yes, due to the form of Butts and Murray

Yes Lynch was .....Thilthorpe, Fogs, Himmelberg, and Tex ....Lynch was the unlucky odd man out, age & injury prevalence got him

Maybe true .....but who in his role was MacKay holding out ?

Sholl, Hamill, and Parnell are the most like for like .....likely MacKay was simply an insurance policy for next year, but it's great that he went on his own terms

If Kelly's around next year he fits the immediate criteria of being around for a long time, consistently ok-good, never great, occasionally awful. Also managed to play 110 games without snagging a brownlow vote yet.

If Kelly walks the seat might be genuinely open for the first time in years

Yes, all worthy candidates .....Sholl is interesting as he has the same outside attributes of MacKay, who that type struggle in losses

Lynch has a very similar issue. Cook and Gollant.

Though Mackay also runs in that issue, but has flexibility to his game.

Nah, they are as well, seeing they could all play a third tall. How you play the role isn't important, just the balance between talls/smalls.

To be fair my baton was passed over to Jake Kelly post 2018 as David became more irrelevant, Kelly has screwed up the team’s structure and game style way more than David since that time.
