beig a long time melbourne supporter, but living in brisbane( with a foot in the lions camp). i couldn,t help but notice the number of qld,rs in the demons squad hopefully they will play a big part in the resurgence of this famous club i speak of petterd , bail spencer , macdonald and the not so popular miller.

As far as my records (http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/tiki-index.php?page=Interstate+Recruits) show (and there's still heaps of early 1900's players that I can't work out where they come from) we've got as many Queenslanders on our list right now as total from all other seasons.

2010: Bail, Petterd, Spencer, Miller, Macdonald

vs

1897-2009: Clint Bizzell, Barry Denny, Ray Smith, Trevor Spencer, Stephen Wearne

Now, a bit of trivia - without looking which one of the ten players above played State of Origin for Queensland (not the Allies)?

If true then that's a ridiculous stat. Good work!:thumbsu:
National game indeed.
No idea re trivia, I'll take a stab and say smith

I'm sure there's no more given that the first VFL player recruited directly from qld didn't come until after WW2.

Ray Smith was the first Queenslander to play 100 VFL games, but didn't play origin when he was at Melbourne. I should point out for the purposes of the exercise a couple of those players played state football before and after their time with us, but only one while he was on our list.
