Obviously a music 'critic' or whatever they think they are, would not have the likes of Kyuss, or clutch, Rancid etc in there, THE DOORS on the other hand would have a very good chance along with the usual suspects -Beatles,The Who, Queen, Radio Head, ACDC?.

FWIW the DOORS were the fist band that I purchased all the albums of. (back in the 90s) Now I just download for free

Brilliant band! I remember discovering Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine in my Dads record collection when I was 13 and playing Break On Through about a dozen times in a row.

For those interested a new Doors documentary came out recently called 'When Your Strange' with narration from Johnny Depp.

Many many moons ago I was a leading hand on a night shift for a company. One of the boys brought his 8 track player in and played The Doors. I was at first happy as I was then an admirer of their music but after several days that turned into weeks and then months I became increasingly bored and sadly listening to The Doors became a form of Chinese water torture. I begged and begged him to stop playing them. "But they are just soooooo cool" he insisted with his great big puppy eyes. Maybe so but there reaches a point. I was overjoyed when he resigned and moved to Cairns. I have never listened to the Doors since and also blame them for the entire career of Status Quo who I am convinced wrote every song that they ever released based on the riff at the start of Roadhouse Blues.

I have An American Prayer on vinyl and if any one wants to make me a 4 figure offer I am all ears. Riveting lyrics such as "Her **** gripped him like a warm, friendly hand" and "Large buxom obese queen Garden hogs and **** veterans" should be hard to resist on overrated crackly plastic.

you never truly appreciate the doors until you randomly hear a song of theirs and then think **** why don't i listen to them more often.

great band. probably in my top ten.

probably helped in my eyes they were the first band i really got into and started buying their albums and delving right into the back catalogue when i was about 14 or 15.

someone mentioned death being the best career move. possibly right. my understanding is at the time they were dirided (sp??) in a lot of circles, particularly critics. this probably stemmed from morrison lyrics which were pretty out there for the time, his lack of care for the media, their haphazard live performances, and well because as with any band there are bound to be some people who just think they're crap. i could also be way off the mark here - i've been told it by a couple of people or maybe read it somewhere or something.... and have never really been arsed to check it up.

Surprised you didn't have "Wild Child" in there either.

I like Krieger's playing. Curious mix of slide and flamenco, very unique style. He's no Duane Allman or Mick Taylor, but very cool player nonetheless.

Your ears bruck bro. Status Quo 12 bar sounds nothing like Roadhouse Blues riff and the Doors sound nothing like Status Quo.
