Pelicanose doesn't have a good track record thus far and has burnt more top20 selections than anyother club so I take what he says with a grain of salt. I did however speak to a very good mate of mine who is right in the crux of recruiting for Collingwood and he has really huge wraps on Smith, seems to think he is going to be a player straight of the bat.

To me we drafted well to get Smith but apart from that I don't see we addressed our needs, a small forward and kpd should have been priority, unless of course they have schoey on cycle of jungle juice to have him at least compete 1on1.

Am I the only 1 that thinks Isaac Smith looks exactly like Stephen Hill when he plays?? This thought excites me :D
He runs exactly like him, but doesn't have Hill's sublime kicking at this point. Still really excited we got him, he's exactly what we need.

It's intesting that for three of our four picks their stand out ability is their pace.

Spangher and Stubbs both went, Spangher I don't mind going, but Stubbs what with that not coming to Hawthorn??? Stubbs at Collingwood, why would anyone pass the chance to play with Hawthorn and play for Collingwood? If he never wanted to go to Hawthorn why did he sign a scholarship deal? Great Pick ups!

Love the instant pace injection. These guys are not projects but are here to play in 2011. Wanted pace got it. Wanted more mongrel, got it (is Clarko picking clones of himself) Wanted some height in defense, got it. (got guzumped with Spangher though, interesting to see who we might pick up in the rookie draft). This is a play to try and win one the next 3 years. Lot of faith being put into Shoey and Stratton. Also interesting no one picked up Skipper. Also Stubbs is interesting. Maybe the Pies want to start a creche for all the unwanted babies that are being spat out and for the ridiculously young fathers to have some companions

BTW, Was there anyone that could use the red button in last night's Austar/Foxtel broadcast? Jason said we would be able to use it, but it sure as hell didn't work for me?

Yeah, LMH, I finally worked it out. I did have to press it twice to get it to come up. I selected the option to hear the floor area but there was no sound, so I switched it back to listen to JD et al. After the top ten I sat back and waited. They had Swallow on interview. Then I realised the picks had resumed with no sound. I was stuck listening to some meaningless twaddle and not hearing the selections. I then worked out if I pressed the back button, I reverted to the floor area. Didn't hear a word of what JD, Lynch or pickering said after that.

Couldn't hear much of what was discussed at the table, but interestingly, during the lead up to Hallahan's selection, I heard one guy (I think Pelch) say " Have the Swans selected yet?" Wasn't sure why that would have made a difference.

Ha ha...I heard that too. Maybe we can't stand them:p

Pup won't necessarily play just down back. We need a fast tagging type to play on attacking defenders. I reckon he could play this role too and having played as a fwd before he could bob up and kick some goals as well. They say he's very quick and hard to tackle too. It will be interesting to see what the club does with Pup.

Re Litherland's height, you don't spoil with the top of your head. Hopefully he has Stratton-like monkey-arms.

LOL absolutely gold mate. But your 100% right, people see 190cm and think its not big enough, but they dont take into account vertical leap and reach. Croad was 190 and was never too small for any KP opponent.

And then there is Brichall who is KP height, but can't get his arms above his head ( just kidding Grant).

Yeah it was awful. I ended up getting the 2nd view to work, but put it on mute and put SEN on. And what was with only having one camera? Bizarre TV.

Based on what i've read and seen, i think its a big thumbs up for the Pelican and his team. We appear to have traded and drafted to fill deficiencies (Ruck, pace, pace, toughness) and hopefully the BHH can provide us with the small crumbing forward.

The NAB cup and Round 1 cant come round quick enough for me.:thumbsu:

+1 very excited about the team now.

Peter Puopola– Norwood / 175cm / 82kg
Profile : 22yo that appears to have really come on this year and is on the Dogs radar albeit unclear if it is National or Rookie Draft. Did a little hunting and found some vision and he is definitely one that should get taken. Fast and aggressive and appears to be somewhat of a ready made replacement for Harbrow.

Based on that I can see why we grabbed him.

Here he is ;) :
