The Draft - WE DID GOOD!

When you have a look at the picks we got in the draft today, I think you will find that we have done alot better than I thought we could do.

Luke Molan - A Geelong Falcon, I watched this guy many times down here and he looks the goods. He is a great mark, athletic and if used right, could be a great prospect for the club. When Ox retires and Neitz get's older, he can play key position up forward or even down back. Exciting youngster.

Steven Armstrong - This one I am REALLY happy about! Was thought to go top 10, he is a very classy midfielder with great disposal skills (this means he won't bomb the ball into our forwardline like many midfielders before! ) He is 17 but has played two years of senior footy in Perth!! Will slot nicely into the midfield and have, hopefully, an immediate impact.

Aaron Rogers - Forward from Sydney who is alot like Molan, but could and will play full forward. But he is also a goal kicker and is very accurate.

Brad Miller - Tall Inside Defender, was captain of the QLD U/18's this year who will hopefully turn into a key running back. One guy said "he will break his nose in order to get the footy" Wil lbe perfect back there when Febey goes, he can stand alongside Walsh and Whelan to add more hardness to the backline.

I beleive we have done really well in this draft, especially getting Armstrong at the pick we did. We can be genuinely excited about our future and I am really looking forward to the coming season.

Just a shame we could not get Ashley Sampi as a replacement for Farmer!!!

Bit disapointing that we only picked up one defender.... i mean throught the draft we picked up two forwards in Bizzell and Vardy, making our forward line very strong! I just don't get why they insist on picking up more forwards!
Oh well i guess they know what they are doing!

Decent point. Molan can play back and I believe that's where we intend to play him. Plus, Miller is an inside defender. I think we have a good mix. We have Ellis, Nicho and Braody we some back - ups and up and comers like Molan. I could be wrong tho.

As i said in another post i suppose if you think about it we do have a lot of defenders coming in! As well as Ellis we got Chris Lamb and Michael Clark still waiting to have their turn in defence and along with Walsh, Whelan, Broady, Nicholson and of course Febey we have a nice full backline!

Congrats on getting Armstrong! I was hoping that if he was around at pick #22 we could get him, but obviously the club thinks we need more tall blokes so we picked up Seaby from West Perth. Armstrong will be a winner for you guys - similar to Woewodin in fact. Just hope he comes home in 2 or 3 years

But im sure he'll do just fine, in which case you ain't gonna see him home till he retiers!

its true actually... they all look like pretty good players, only thing is, we needed defenders and a ruck, but we only got 1.5 defenders, and NO rucks!!!
i hope the skills of the boys make up for that!!

'Tis a great read, CFH blew his load a bit too early on these picks. Although who could predict Molan's injury problems and Armstrong was looking good pre-bali.
