Solid match by Duffield today:thumbsu:. I was impressed. What about you guys?
I earnestly hope he can keep it up. He would be a very handy type if he can expand and mantain on his good performance today...

My feelings are that he certainly did enough to play next week, but he'll be a week to week proposition. I suspect that it won't be long before the likes of Foster and O'Brien have relegated him to the role of depth player.

But he's in the team now. :thumbsu:

I have no doubt that Duff has the talent to be out there, it's his turnovers (of which there were thankfully few today) that frustrate me, along with his failure to step up (so far anyway). He's a part of that second tier that NEED to be playing good footy to take us to the next step.

You guys cannot argue.. he took some strong marks today and his physical strength & presence seemed to be more noticable today to me than previous matches....
It's all positive :thumbsu:

The way he runs is similar to the Slime's last Captain who couldn't get out quick enough last year.
Playing Duff as backman was a bloody good move. :thumbsu:

I've been hoping he would get a run this year, 'cause afaiac from what i've seen of him he looks like he could be a 200 gamer.

yeah i thought he was great today seemed really hard at it , something i didn't realise about him is his height hes at 187 on freo site as is ibbo and mayne wich i think is important for us as we've always been a bit short imo (bell, mcmanus, hase, black, jcarr and shammer )all under 180

I was a little worried after he was barely sighted in the first quarter but he was fantastic after that. Some of his work when the pressure was really on just smacked of class.

Duffman's a strange one. When he plays well you can see that he has a real touch of class about him, but then he'll put in shockers occasionally. But the way he imposed himself on the game today was very impressive. Hopefully he's turned the corner in his development.

Duffman was fantastic today, and must be rewarded with a spot next week - but far from a regular yet, still remembering some of those games where he just seems to switch off and isn't quite with the pace of the game, bit like Ibo early last week. Great today though :thumbsu:.

what was really impressive today was his despereration

he really wanted to be out there and in the thick of things

I think what you're seeing is a very simple case of rewarding players and showing faith in guys who perform in the wafl rather than only bringing them in when we have injuries.

Duff dominated last week and was rewarded - and what happens?

He plays a very solid game with several class passages of play.

If Harves continues with this policy, it will be the making of guys like Duff.

Now all he needs to do is play well again next week :thumbsu:

Selection will be hot next week with several players in line for a recall/call up:

Tarrant, McPharlin, Ibbo, Solly, Ma Johnson, Drum and even Josh Head would be a chance...

Would expect (and hope) that Peake is finally sent back to the wafl after another shocker!

I thought Duffield was awesome yesterday. I quiet liked the look of him forward of the centre. Looked dangerous when ever he got it there.

Put his body on the line, and reaaly got better as the game went on.
Will definitely play against the Tigers.
I can only see one change, Solly in, M Carr out.

Yep he contributed to the team. Definately get a game next week. I have been one of his critics in the past, after he played well and looked like would step up but then never seemed to develop. I am glad to see players getting an opportunity from good WAFL form and then watching them stepping and and rewarding the selectors.

We have a lot more depth in areas I was concerned about.

Palmer
Headland
Bell
J Carr
Mayne
Ibbo
Peake
Foster
O'Brien
Duffield
Browne

It's encouraging to see these so-called "fringe" players come into the team and not look out of place. He's been around the club for longer than Palmer and Mayne, so you'd hope he would know the gameplan and fit in.

He deserves a game next week. Well done to him.

Black and Peake need a run in the WAFL IMO. M Carr was ok this week.

Black had 8 clangers from 15 possies!!! Shocking game, and one or two games with Souths can't hurt.

More importantly Black seems to have some serious discipline issues lately.

You can count on him to give away a few stupid frees every game and maybe a 50 or two as well. He's a senior player now and he needs to smarten his act up pronto. We can't afford to have him hurting the team with stupid brain fades.

I was glad to see Harves drag him yesterday after he gave away a typically dumb free kick. If he doesn't learn his lesson from that then maybe a week in the WAFL in the future (as a last resort) might make him think a bit more about his actions.
