A long road ahead of us and plenty of things that have to fall the right way.But we should ( i hope) get across the line for our 2 title! :) ;)

It's a long road with lots of hurdles to leap.

22 rounds to jockey for position, then a final series that comes down to 2 weeks of knock out footy that you have to overcome.

All that said, I think if we keep our best side on the park most weeks and we play our best footy when it counts, there is no reason why Big Nick won't be holding aloft our second premiership cup on that last saturday in september

I think you guys are getting ahead of yourselves.

There's no doubt that you have a great young list and will probably win a flag in the next 3-5 years, but you've only had one year of finals experience.

Most sides play finals for 2-3 years before breaking through for a flag.

You've only been in the top bracket for one season so I wouldn't be too certain of your premiership credentials just yet.

I totally agree with you sydney eagle Gee i have been a saints fan for a hell of a long time and i have learnt from bitter experience not to get ahead of myself in relation to expecting my beloved club to do what every medium thinks it should do. There are so many factors to being a successful club not just finishing in the top 4 in one season. I along with every Saints fan is hoping desperately for the "last day in September" glory. So GO THE MIGHTY SAINTS but keep a lid on it to see how we come back after season 2004 and how we are affected by injuries this season:)

Sydney Eagle and Panther, you both make good points.

Over the last 20 odd years the premiership side has paid their dues before taking out the big one.

All that said though I do believe our window of opportunity is opening, I hope to god that we can snag one.

Sydney Eagle - Well said !

Sides very rarely (if ever) have pulled a flag without a few years in the finals.
Saints still have a way to go to get near Port or the Lions

Nic Off, yes a weakened Hawks side was beaten by the saints by 9 pts.

What you forget is that it was also a weakened Saints team, the likes of Gehrig, Maguire, Penny, Jones, Clarke etc not playing not to mention our dual brownlow medalist.

The other thing to remember is that it is February, the team tried a few things, I was quite happy to see the returns from Fiora, Ackland etc and the other side of it all is that we squeaked out a win after playing an absolutely horrible second half.

Our premiership chances neither strengthened or weakened, I mean it isn't decided for another 30 odd weeks.

Saints should pull a flag with this side, and yes, a windows of oppurtunity could be opening. It would be good for St Kilda to grab a flag.

But this kind of thinking is what hurts this club.. they have 1 good season, start to believe their own publicity, and then fall away.

Long way to go before September

Surpstar,

I know what you are saying, however I am pretty sure that this thread was started for a bit of fun.

I know it is a long season and anything can happen, yada yada yada but if you can't say you are going to win the flag around other saints supporters, when can you say it??
