Champions Cup = Champions League.
Euro Cup = UEFA Cup
Euro Vase = Intertoto Cup

It's ****ing annoying. Every time they release a game I sit there for hours renaming all the competitions as it irks me so much on the screen. They don't play in the "German First Division", they play in the bleeding Bundesliga!

Thats because they dont have the licencing

**Help on this would be awesome**

I have just finished my first season as Arsenal & I am trying to get Bapista back (he returned to Real Madrid after the loan finished) but he says he's not interested.....dang, he was my best player last year. I've tried a few times - first time Real Madrid accepted my bid of 16m, I offered him a contract and he wasn't interested (term wasn't what he wanted). By the time I offered again Bayern Munich had also bid on him which drove the price up to about 19m... :(

Anyway, it's been a few weeks since then (I've since picked up Adrian Mutu thinking I wont get Baptista but I'm really starting to regret not getting Baptista. Bapista still hasn't left Real Madrid and I've got 16m left. What do you reckon if I sell Mutu straight away (after playing 2 friendlies)?? Will the team / board / supporters get angry at me? I think it will be the only way I can actually afford Baptista. The other option is to keep Mutu and get rid of Van Persie (who really didn't do much for me last year anyway).

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

DB10 - I agree, I hate the fake names as everything else in the game is realistic, I just forgot to edit it at the start of the game. I'm going to try and track down a saved game editor now.

Waverly - That could affect your reputation, signing a player and then getting rid of him straight away might make other players might not want to join because of this. I have no idea how the board and supporters will react. Is it possible to loan Baptista for the season and then you could buy him in the next off-season?

Still on my first and only career with FM07.

Began as a Neville Nobody Sunday Leaguer with Adelaide United. Roosterlad and DB10 openly cried when I was appointed, but then cheered up when they realised I wasn't John Kosmina.

06/07 - Adelaide United: Cup Winners, Preseason Cup Winners, 3rd League, 3rd Championship
07/08 - Adelaide United: Premiers, Champions, Cup Winners
08/09 - Adelaide United: Premiers, Cup Winners, Preseason Cup Winners

Got bored with having to juggle the crappy salary cap system and the problems with getting players from the AIS (Shaun Ontong on £4k a week in Canberra and wanting £8k/week to play for United?... right?), so I did a flit on the eve of the Championship to take over Leeds who were in the ah, Championship.

No money to buy players, no money to pay players, plenty of duds on ridiculous money and long contracts (Gary Kelly hello hello!).

08/09 - Leeds United: 10th Championship
09/10 - Leeds United: 10th Championship
10/11 - Leeds United: 4th (Lost in 1st Round of the playoffs)
11/12 - Leeds United: 3rd (Won playoff final vs. Fulham)

Finally out of the Championship I was unable to purchase anything worthwhile, so relied on Bosmans, canny exotic bargains and children on the pitch. Off it, the training ground, youth facilities and scouting network were all greatly improved at my insistence. The future laaaaaaaaads, the future!

12/13 - Leeds United: 10th Premiership

Gobbies all round as I have us in the top-6 for much of the season before a late fadeout sees us in midtable - Villa, Napoli and Australia all come calling, I pay them short shrift. Marching on together, we.

13/14 - Leeds United: 17th and sacked in late January

You ungrateful arsetulips. I take you from tears to f#cken glory and what do I get?

Never mind the club captain, top defender and ace playmaker were all out with 4 month injuries - or my extreme loyalty when we didn't have so much as a pit to poss in. "A fresh outlook" my arse. F#ck you Leeds.

After 5 months at Centrelink - due to my reputation dropping to National and being 6 months short from English citizenship - I was able to successfully tip the incumbent manager of Empoli out and take his chair. I hoped this would be a short but successful stint in order to get back to England.

14/15 - Empoli: 14th in Serie B and sacked in early January

After issuing an ultimatum over the wagebill, the Empoli directors punted me. I didn't mind too much as I was bored as hell and as Kevin Keegan once said, it wasn't like it said in the brochure.

After a series of disheartening rejections - Motherwell, Wigan and Cardiff - I feared my career would turn Terry Butcher before Derby decided to take a punt on me after two weeks on the dole queue.

Encumbered with debt, I couldn't help but think I was back to square one as with Leeds all those years ago. Pwned.

14/15 - Derby County: 11th Championship
15/16 - Derby County: 12th Championship
16/17 - Derby County: 1st Championship

Whey-ey! Promotion in a near flawless campaign that almost derailed at the end, with only 2 points taken from the final five games. Thankfully the closest chasers, Bolton - needing only a draw - self-destructed at home with 3 first half red cards and a 0-2 loss to Stoke. Haha.

17/18 (Present) - Derby County: 12th Premiership (after 5 games)

We've played some nice football to date, with two swaggering, dominant displays at both Anfield and the Riverside rewarded with precisely f#ck all. "Derby will feel hard done-by but Liverpool won't mind!", the gypsy bastards.

It all came full circle in my most recent fixture though, as I pounded Leeds at Pride Park to the tune of 3-1. Should've been more however, with my strikers spurning countless chances to pour more misery upon Ben Foster between the sticks. No hard feelings though, he still loves me for rescuing him from Old Trafford obscurity all those years ago, bless him.

I suppose I could loan him again (had him on loan last year and he was awesome). I will keep Mutu as it would be dumb to re-sell him after 3 weeks - and as you said it would effect my rep. I might offload Van Persie as I've got Rosicky & Mutu who can both play AML.

Cheers for your reply.

I didn't even think you could do that.

On the old versions newly signed players would reject any contract offers until the next transfer window. It didn't matter who you were and who they played for - you could've been Juventus and a newly signed player to Bristol Rovers would reject you - it wasn't possible to sign (or sell, in this case) them.

I've never tried it so it might not be possible. Mutu might turn out alright (only cost my about 5m). Van Persie has been fairly dissapointing for me so if I get rid of him (I think he's worth around 7-8m) I will have around 24m to spend.

My team (if I get Bapista & sell Van Persie) would then look like this:

.......Henry......Toni.......
.............Bapista..........
Rosicky....Fabregas...Hleb
Marcelo..Gallas..Toure..Aboue
..........Usarti.....................

Subs from:

Kasper Schmeichel GK
Pedro Leon AMR
Gilberto DMC
Denilson DMC
Senderous DC
Helguera DC
Mutu AM
Walcott AM/F
Lauren DR

I've got a few other players in the squad but these guys are the best of them I think.

Bapista scored over 30 goals for me last year playing as a striker (Henry got over 35).

A player can't be trasferred twic eina year so you would have to sell Van Persie

Thanks for that - looks like Van Persie is gonski (hehe - maybe Chelski can buy him..). He's the only one in my squad that when after I say in the press we're going to win a game he thinks we aren't a chance (when other players usually say they're pumped for the game or are looking forward to the game).

Is that Silva from Valencia? Absolute star that guy. Sergio too.. I am playing with Athletico at the moment. Him and Torres are awesome together.

I had a nail biting end to the season.
I finished 4th, a brilliant season and easily my best in the current career but a long way behind 2nd and even further from top. In the Conference North only the Winners get automatic promotion, 2-5 contest playoffs.
I played Gateshead first up at home, 10 mins in and they had stolen two rubbish goals and led 0-2 at HT. I fired up in the 2nd half and scored an equaliser in the 89th minute.
At their ground i fell behind, equalised straight away and then led in the 2nd half before giving away a penalty and it went to penalties. I trusted one kick with a young lad who came through my academy, big risk but his penalty stat was "5" which was amazing in my team  Anyway he nailed it to put us 3-2 ahead with 1 shot left each, they scored but my striker scored to send me into the final.

I played Burton who finished about 15 pts clear of me in 2nd spot but at half time i was amazingly 2-0 up. Last time i played them in the league i was at home and led 2-0 but lost 3-2 and of course in the Playoff Final i fall to bits and it finishes 2-2. With seconds to go in extra time i subbed on the young lad again to take a penalty. i scored all 5 penalties, my keeper saves their 3rd which was enough to send me into the Conference National finally!!

Party time in Stalybridge.

It actually turns out that I put in a new bid of 20m for Baptista (I actually had 20m to spend I realised). At the same time they (Real Madrid) put in a bid for Eboue for about 7m - which I promply turned down (he's been really good for me at DR).

Real Madrid then came back with a counter offer for Bapista - 3m cash upfront, 12 mill over 12 months, and Eboue...... I had to take it seeing I was desperate to get him in.

Oh well, I've got my man now (although the greedy bugger asked for 91k per week! - had to get board approval to pay him more) and are hoping Lauren holds down the DR spot for me.

I'm expected plenty of MOM's from my big money man now.

Great story, thats what the game is all about.

I got Stoke promoted from the Championship in simular circumstances (penalty shootout), it was super exiting, as i assume you were as well. It makes all the hours of playing so worth while.

Yeah it was amazingly exciting but i was also nervous as all hell as I'm sure you were too. So close to promotion yet one little slip up in penalties and you are back to square one...

A player worth a look at:

Ezequiel Garay - Racing
21 year old DC. From argentina but has been in Spain long enough to be a Spanish citizen. Absolute gun for me. Got him for 3.1mil in the Jan transfer window in 2008 and 4 months later he is worth 4.7m and have started him every match for Atletico. Is averaging 7.6. Just got a report from the assistant manager on his development and how good he is going.

I just beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Champions League quarter finals first leg with Atletico but I was missin half my team because south american qualifiers was on the same day. Probably 6 or 7 players from my starting 11 were missing.
