This bloke wouldn't do interviews when he was retiring and now sledging others
I just think it is so slimy and gross. He's not alone, many have done the same. I just don't know how someone who has been at a footy club, seen the work players do and the issues they face on and off the field and interact with coaches and know the stresses of that particular job etc., can then go into the media and sit behind a microphone and call for someone to lose their job. Complete Wayne Kerr behaviour in my opinion.

Buddy was never a player I felt passionate about during his tenure at the Swans.

He was never a favourite of mine. But I could never quite put my finger on why.

This kind of thing just crystalizes my feeling of antipathy, perhaps even bordering on dislike.

He himself took time off to deal with mental health issues ..... surely there's a degree of hypocrisy at play when he's now taking potshots like this - which can't help the mental state of the individual involved.

I can't believe it , just about how i felt at the time
I reckon he will remember himself more at the Hawks , as he seems closer to players from there and before someone has a crack , he was absolutely sensational for us , just never warmed to him and say a Wayne Schwass , whereas i loved Plugger , Paul Williams and Rhys Shaw

I agree. As our highest profile and paid player, he really didn't give much back to the club off field with his media shy nature often used as an excuse. Even when he finally retired, he only did the bare minimum to publicly acknowledge the club and it's fans who had supported him for the 10 plus years. Yet now he's happy to come out and make comments about Voss and essentially insert himself front and centre into a story concerning Carlton.

Yeah I think it's perfectly normal to have a sense of indifference or even dislike towards one of your own players. I have that same sense about a few of our current players, and will probably feel the same about a few in ten, twenty, thirty years time.

If I had to describe my reasons with Buddy, I'd say it's because the relationship between Buddy & the Swans always felt transactional, rather than born out of any sense of loyalty or love for club. We provided him a club to play for on a massive salary, out of the Melbourne bubble, in Sydney where his partner was living, and in return he gave his all every time he went out on the field. He never really felt like a "Blood", IMO.

I've heard he was a bit of a divisive figure amongst the playing group, and I think the transactional nature of his tenure with us was proven when no less than a week after his final season came to an end, he'd already unfollowed a bunch of Swans teammates - the 2020s social media equivalent of clearing out your desk drawer in the final day of your job.

Yep.
Doesn’t come across as someone who has been invested in the Swans since he stopped playing.

Fair enough I guess as it was all about money from the very start.

Trying to be the new Kane Cornes with these comments about someone’s career as a coach.
Don’t like it at all coming from someone who played for & represented us.

Make no mistake. He is a Hawk.
Even $12M & 10 or so years wasn’t enough.

And then there was the great Stewie Maxfield
