Don't rate this being split in two parts at all. I think it is really going to drag, one movie would have definitely been enough. The Gollum scene should be greatness.

Being made after LOTR, this movie is going to have a whole heap of expectation, because well it's going to be compared to LOTR. It won't match that expectation, but it should still be a good duo of movies.

I don't think there are two movies worth of content though, particularly if they are long movies like the LOTR movies. I am very much looking forward to this, but don't have huge expectations. Will be interesting to see if Jackson can pull this off.

The trailer doesn't get me that excited to be honest.

I didn't know it was being split into two parts. I'm hoping the first part doesn't drag on, but i have a feeling it could if it goes for as as long as the LOTR movies.

I can't imagine they'll be three hours each. The added detail from the appendixes,
particularly the White Council and Gandalf's adventures in Sauron's fortress of Dol Guldur (which I imagine is the place we see him on his own in the trailer),
will help, but they should definitely be shorter.

Everything in the trailer looks amazing. I can't wait.

Looks terrific. Gandalf the Grey looks the same as he did in FOTR. Trailer was excellent however we're going to have to keep waiting for another 12 months...

Sorry, but why did half the characters (especially the dwarves) look like CGI cartoon characters? Won't be watching this. I demand no CGI for the major quest members. Jackson is turning into Lucas.

Also hated the really fake CGI scene of a dwarf falling over on the floor, oh hahaha. Umm, no Peter, that's bullsh*t. Thought I was watching a Disney production.

What I liked. Seeing old Bilbo again. Young Bilbo looked the part too.

Film will be a critical failure IMO. Think Star Wars prequel.

Old Bilbo and Young Bilbo are supposed to look the same, about 50 years old. The whole point of the ring is that it doesn't age him.

Preview looks great. I like how they used one of the songs they sing during the book as the background music, very effective.

I also never imagined the music that way when reading the book either.

Looking forward to this, why does it have to be another 12 months?

WTF are you on about? There were no CGI dwarves.

There was a very CG look to many parts of the video, particularly the dwarves, they may not be full CG characters but it may have something to do with the filming technique. I'd have to see more to be sure. In any event, disappointed with the plastic "look" of the film from what I saw. Half the dwarves didn't even look like dwarves IMO.

Also, the ring slowed down the ageing process, it did not stop it. So Bilbo should look younger in the Hobbit, but to what degree is debatable.

I don't think those dwarves are CG, but I do get what you mean. That video left me feeling flat, which is not at all how I felt when I saw the LOTR videos before watching the movie.

It'll be interesting to see if the movie does meet the lofty expectations.

Read this book recently and I liked it. Very interested to see what Beorn looks like. Crazy bear man ftw.

Trailer looks fine, only minor issue for me was that some of the dwarves don't look like dwarves imo? I know you think of that cartoon style short and stout type figure for a dwarf but whoever the actor is for the main dwarf, he just looks like a normal guy?

Gandalf says to Bilbo "You haven't aged a day."

Gollum let the ring consume him, hence the extreme physical toll. Bilbo didn't do that.

Could just be politeness or a joke.

Also given that Frodo knows Gandalf before LoTR, then Gandalf is obviously a regular visitor. It's not like they went 50 years without seeing it each other.
