At the risk of jinxing things, is it me, or is the West Ham of this season similar to Everton last season, as in, for all the hype, they're not exactly getting the results?

This podcast also confirmed my thinking behind these thoughts. West Ham more likely to compete over Tottenham? For all their developments, they still look like they need some Payet magic to get things going along. Heck, they were 2-0 against Watford at home, and I thought our 4-1 was bad.

Early days yet, but I'm being less convinced by them. This has a lot of Everton 15/16 about them in terms of hype.

Yeah I'm not convinced by West Ham at all, but no offence I'm also not convinced by Leicester. I really think you'll struggle to make Top Ten, I think a lot of sides have found you out, and you're trying to progress your style of play which is taking you away from the game plan that was so successful.

I'll admit that we are a bit off where I would ideally like us to be. Midfield and Defense have been a bit on the sloppy side as can be evidenced in our games against you and Liverpool.

Also, it would be foolish to think one could enter in the season with the exact same plan and hope it works. The Plan A is still there, and it does net results, but we need to ensure that we have that element of unpredictability about us, which is where Slimani and Hernandez comes into it. We have great crossers, but no one that could take advantage of it with the speed of our game.

Of course, it means bugger all if we can't cut out the slop, and we have been inconsistent so far.

I wouldn't rule anything out just yet, I think we need our new players to adapt to their roles (Amartey especially, I think its a matter of getting game time for him) and teammates before we'll be bearing any fruit. I really rate our attacking options, we just need to make sure we can get it up there.

I'm OK with being ruled out of contention for now, it's up to us to give people a reason to believe that we can.
