I do believe the war chest and landing a big fish is related to free agency, end of discussion.

That's the only reference to it and it was said in an interview in Feb this year.

I honestly think we had no intentions of landing a big fish this trade period. We got Ivan and Morris and improved ourselves in the draft you can argue about wether he said it or not but the fact is the war chest is for when free agency comes into play, that's a fact.

Show me a quote where someone from the RFC said they would land a big fish and within a time period that justifies you claiming they have failed already.

They didn't.

True, you personally probably didn't make it up, but it's a made up statement because it's wasn't said.

Here's the February article where "Big Fish" originated from clearly talking about Free Agency and having the finances in place to be able to land a big fish if one were to come available.

Only for 2012. But 2014 when he is a 10year vet we no longer have that insurance.

I don't think he will leave in 2014 when we are having a crack at the flag, I know its hard to soak in but fact is we are building a team that is going places and if we can keep lids after next year he will be a tiger for life and hopefully experience success at the top.

Also yes Deledio can be offered a big contract next year but the tigers will have the money to match it and keep lids a tiger. I'm fairly confident lids will remain a tiger after next season. If we did go after a big name this year then next year maybe we wouldn't financially be in a position to retain Deledio, think about it. So the goal is to keep lids and land a big fish which is very achievable.

Can anyone please tell me how the FTF is going to help us land a big fish, there is a salary cap , which is funded by the AFL, which all clubs have.

Or are we going to pay outside the cap?

After media whore Terry Wallace , the current regime is very reserved in it's grab for media attention , however in saying that TW makes Derryn Hinch look reserved .
IMO the first season was very good media wise as it appeared very closed shop , which I think is a good way to go , if you don't crave positive media attention they tend to leave you alone when shut hits the fan !
This last season has seen a little swing into the media bright lights which to be honest when delivered by Benny Gale has been very good , Dimma has been likewise although he erred on the side of going to far into discussing where players are at and CC is a douch bag who should be gagged , as some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is very very poor !
