geez batsman's picnic.

How often would a game have three innings over 500?
Yeah, it would have been a snorefest.

I'm following this on the Assoc of Cricket Statisticians forum. The initial thinking there is that, putting aside the individual performance of Morris, this is the only time in f-c cricket that a side has compiled a 300 run stand in each innings, regardless of the batsmen involved.

The just completed Leicestershire-Derbyshire CC match.

It's believed to be the highest scoring f-c match ever to contain just the one century.

It would be interesting to see if Leicestershire's match aggregate (484 & 9/357) is the highest not to contain a century as well. I'll post any updates on that if I find out.

As a sidenote, Jewell is playing for Derbyshire - his two matches have seen him score 61, 51*, 83 & 73.

Tails wagged, Harry Came prematurely, our only Test bowler opened the batting, didn't take a wicket, and didn't bowl in the 2nd innings. 41 year old Madsen got a bunch of runs again.

841 by Leicestershire turns out to be the third highest f-c match aggregate by a side not containing a century.

Second highest was Islamabad in 2011 (337 & 8-526).

And, drum roll, here is the record - 889 by Sri Lanka A in 1999 (364 & 7-525):

UAE Women were 0-192 after 16 overs in a T20 vs Qatar and then retired out the whole team.

Apparently rain was forecast and they wanted enough time to bowl out the opposition.

Durham win the toss and ask Surrey to bat in the current Div 1 County Championship match and..............

I saw that Sherb...

There have been some big scores this round - Middlesex 534, Kent 8-566 and Worcs 7-679. Adam Hose getting 266 off 253 balls.

Not only this round but there have been some huge scores in the County Championship this year.

Think its been a hot dry summer over there, perhaps the decks have been main roads & the bowling attacks aren't great?

They use using the Kookaburra balls this round, apparently.

Surrey's all-time highest f-c score, beating their 811 in the century before last (1899).

It was the fourth highest total in the history of county cricket.

It is also believed to be (tbc) the second highest total ever by a team that was put into bat after losing the toss, after this match:

England's first innings against India this match.

Total score of 407, includes:
  • 6 ducks
  • Two first ball ducks
  • Two second ball ducks
  • Nobody passing a score of 22 apart from two players.
  • Nobody lasting more than 46 balls apart from two players.
  • Nobody staying at the crease more than 90 minutes apart from two players.
  • A partnership of 303, the next highest partnership was 59....and the next highest ones after that were barely double figures.

Was looking for a big wow after Rehan bowled us to victory with 13 for the match to go along with a century. This appears to be the 26th occasion a player has done this specific double in a match, and only one player has achieved it more than once. No, it's not Grace or Botham, Procter or Imran Khan.

And one of the great all-round performances in cricket history

Couldn't find a thread on the current Champions tournament, but Jon Hastings had an absolute shocker this week. In his only over he bowled 12 wides and a no ball, as Pakistan rolled us by 10 wickets. He bowled 18 balls and didn't even complete an over. :drunk:
