CAN WE PLEASE MAKE THE THREAD TITLE IN ALL CAPS AS WELL?
Naah, it's bad enough now. I have to put ear protection on when I open the thread.

Jeez there's some folk on this thread. If they found a five dollar note on the street, they'd shed salty tears of frustration that it wasn't a twenty dollar note.

I don't think the AFL media are outright lying/telling porkies, it's just that they are putting way too much certainty on a situation that is ever evolving and where priorities are different.

Both Jamarra and the Dogs are focusing on a reintegration before an idea of long term future or trade value or a desire to play where etc. is discussed. It's been thought about, but nowhere near with the absolutism that the media is making it out to be.

Let's get the bloke training for several weeks, meeting benchmarks and playing a VFL game or two (irrespective of form, just to enjoy being around teammates) before we really speculate, because it still could go in any direction.

The last time my inside word (which I believe was accurate) was that the Dogs were virtually prepared to tear up his contract. We've been brought back from that brim and it's been all positive from that moment when nobody thought it would be, so for the same reason it can still head in any direction for both Jamarra and the club positive or negative.

While it is great that that JUH is back training, i really think the club still needs to really challenge him to best win back the trust of the team. While consistently training, playing vfl etc is one thing, there needs to be another layer.

As a forward, he is currently surplus to needs and it is difficult to see him finding a path back to the AFL side this year. Even if he is a better option than Buku, will he really prove enough to be that replacement this year. Maybe.

But I really do think the Bulldogs can add an extra layer by telling him he will being as a key back this year. To me it serves so many purposes.

  • it can prove that he is being selfless for the team
  • it is still an area of need for the team as a third key back
  • it suits his athletic profile
  • it fits with him being a very good field kick, but terrible goalkicker
  • it provides another skill for him to use whether for the bulldogs or trade value

By doing so, it also potentially gives the club a way of saying that if he wants to play AFL this year, he can do it by being selfless and therefore potentially gives him a quicker path back than as a forward. Who knows, he may be the hidden answer to our long term key back issues.

Thoughts?

Ummm no
