Haven’t spotted Jamarra in the on field post match VFL celebrations. He might rock up to the 2am celebrations?
Disclaimer- only watching on TV

I think if it already wasn’t obvious he’s done at the kennel it’s even more obvious after not seeing him there today celebrating the win with the rest of the club.

Again only watching this on tv so can’t officially say he’s not there

Club to make Jammara decision this week according to Code sports.
What some actually think the decision wasn't made 3 or months ago????

Marra had 2 meetings with Ross the boss 👀
Lol. Doesn't fit any of the previous media-peddled narratives. Moorabbin is still a suburb in Melbourne, last I checked. Saints aren't contending for years and they average a smaller home crowd attendance.

Is that really what you want, champion? I'm still wanting to see a redemption story, but if not, he goes to the highest bidder and we never speak his name again.

The options were always going to open up for him but given his temperament, they will just as quickly dry up again. Realistically if he is coming for free, most clubs in Melbourne will stick their hand up to have a crack and back in their welfare staff to shake him.

Hope for their sake it works and for his that it changes something for him.

Still don’t think we get much if anything for him, but at least his money and distraction will be off our books.

Makes a lot of sense tbh. Saints are desperate for talent and need to take big risks to acquire it. Apparently they backed out of trading two firsts for him last year but the equation has changed significantly - he would effectively be free at this point. Interesting that they are sounding out two of our in-contract players. Could open the door to a Wilkie deal.

I'm not sure I'm that generous. In fact, I know I'm not.

Let's all remember how much we gave up to land him, lost potential, the wasted 12 months just gone, the money he's been paid that could've gone to more productive means. We're not running a charity here. I don't wish any other club well and especially not with one of our former players.

Sanders and JUH (Saints pay the full quid) for Wilkie? I would do it (just don’t think about how many first rounders we have wasted in this scenario).

The big $64 question is will Marra get an Uber to the exit meeting given his cars are stolen or lent to low life mates. There is no debate on if he is going be given his marching orders.

At this stage the only evidence we have if Saints investigating and asking the question, which was going to be inevitable with some club somewhere given his talent.

I still very much doubt a club goes after him without a guarantee of behaviour and training standard approaches. Culture issues aside how can any new club feel confident he'll learn the gameplan or at the very least develop chemistry with teammates if he doesn't turn up to training to learn and develop those things?

Vaguely similar situations have happened for other clubs though. Do you think Saints fans enjoyed the fact that they used pick 1 on Paddy McCartin, only to see him recruited for for free and for him to play a role in a team that eventually made a Grand Final? But they weren't bitter about it, because they understood the circumstances for Paddy on a personal level, just as we should for Jamarra.

His time with us is done, and we just have to accept that the draft capital we gave up always has uncertainty in producing future football output, and the uncertainty can come from any of different reasons. I suppose it can be some solace, where with the ridiculous pick value for bids for the one year and getting Treloar, we really only paid pick ~10 in true value for him, not pick 1.

I don’t think there’s many issues with how we’ve handled him this year.

And we still don’t really know what level of interest exists, if any, beyond some vague media speculation.

It would be frustrating if it turns out that all the other clubs are just waiting for us to sack him so they can get in a little bidding war for him on a much cheaper contract that poses little risk. Would be more frustrating if another club got a career out of him. At that point I think some questions would have to be asked of how we manage, and get the most out of, difficult or different personalities - compared to other clubs.

What we do know is that AFL clubs will generally be very forgiving to talented players. We’ve seen many examples, some recently. Jamarra is a unique case in that he hasn’t done anything (provably) illegal - he literally hasn’t turned up all year. He does keep himself in some kind of physical shape, though it’s a big step between regular boxing workouts and AFL level match fitness.

if Taryn Thomas - a worse human being than Jamarra by some measure as far as we know, and also not as talented a footballer as Jamarra - got so close to a second chance, i think it’s easy to see Jamarra getting a lifeline.

Hes pissed us all off but I wouldn’t be revising his actual talent and what he’s proven at afl level. That’s a number one pick who has played at a number one pick level. The AFL is not a morally scrupulous environment.

I expect someone, probably working with the afl, to give him that lifeline with protections built in for the club.

What I’ve maintained all year is that the only way we extract maximum value out of Jamarra, if that was our priority, is to be committed to having him in our list in 2026. If we aren’t (and I’m pretty sure we aren’t), and we just want to piss him off because he’s set all his bridges on fire, it’s going to be extra frustrating given we’re watching Dunkley and Smith play huge roles on the two best teams in the comp.

Still it’s all what ifs at this point. A lot we don’t know and a lot to play out. Though I expect, whenever we do actually meet with Jamarra, the outcome will be very quickly down by the media (if not BF first).

I think all clubs have recruited a top pick that hasn’t paid off.

We have few options, but if he can help us land a position of need, not all is lost, and preferably to Saints, rather than a competitor picking him up for free.

Didn't the saints look at him seriously only a season ago and decided against it, would have thought he's gotten worse if anything.
Remember there's a lot of ego's at the top of the food chain in AFL club land. There's a few key people that would view themselves as the saviour and think they could be the one to turn him around.

I don't think we should be surprised if they do to be honest. They might not but I actually think there's a decent chance he turns it around but it won't be with us. Too many bridges have been burnt.

Again, are we running a charity here? He's a professional footballer being paid more than 8-9 times the average wage, who has been taking the p*** out of the club all year and we should just wave him goodbye pat him on the back and wish him well at another club?

Spare me.

Sure, but what's your solution to your anger? Beg the AFL for compensation? What grounds do we have for that, other than to try and force the issue that because he hasn't held up to his contract, we're not obligated to pay it (and have the subsequent salary cap ramifications)? If we want to get some trade value for him we're also then treating his contract as valid and therefore can't subsequently complain about having to pay his salary. Either he has a contract or he doesn't.
