A man's been arrested with assault on New Zealand cricketer Jesse Ryder.Though it sounds like there's at least one more and possibly 3 who they still need to bring in.

I don't particularly know the NZ criminal code but given the amount of damage they caused and the fact they laid into him on the ground and went back for a second go, you would think think common assault is a little unders. It sees assault carries a three year maximum term where as the charge of wounding with intent carries 14.

I suppose at this point they are looking to get them in custody while working out the merits of the higher charges. Here's hoping they don't have considering upgrading it to something more serious than wounding with intent.
