Why are there so many ill fitting managers in the premier league right now?

Because clubs don't have patience to let a manager develop a squad and style. Look at Arsenal under Arteta now or Villa under Emery.

Doesn't mean there isn't some ordinary fitting appointments along the way too

Yes of course, because clubs panic and sack managers and rush the appointment.

On Maresca, it was more a bad choice by him rather than by them. He's coming out of it looking like a good manager who took the wrong job. Like Potter but with actual good football and okay results

Amorim was a rushed appointment. Was Maresca? Frank wasn't and he's looking like a worse fit than both of them

Why is Frank a bad fit? What makes him a bad fit?

Was Amorim rushed? What made him rushed?

Maresca won the Club World Cup with Chelsea, was he a bad appointment or did he have other issues with the club? When was the last time Chelsea had a manager last three seasons?

Franks football isn't scaling up whatsoever and goes against everything he was hired to bring. Hired to play high pressing attacking football. And its not that at all. Its not even counter attacking like Brentford. Its long throws and corners and 0 threat in open play. When hired he said we'd play a certain way and 5 months in he has shown none of it, from a squad who is setup and used to play on the front foot. We're less clear in how we want to play now than I've seen since the Ramos days

Amorim seemed like a rushed appointment mid season. Played a very set way and needed a squad build to match his style, and it never really took off. Bad fit if you dont sign players specifically for his 343, or a bad hire if you want to make only club signings to play a back 4. Correct me if im wrong with that?

I think Maresca was a good hire at the wrong club. Feels odd he complained about how its run when its been that way for years. Still makes it an ill fit on his behalf.

It's not clear whether Maresca resigned or if he was sacked. Chelsea's statement said they have 'parted company' with him.

I think its pretty clear he walked to me. Changed management to Mendes a few weeks ago and started talking to other clubs. Then went to us asking for a new contract, was turned down.

Dont think we had much choice in it, his heads been turned to someone else.

Maresca is a strange one as he was happy all season last year with the exactly same set up, you are a coach not a manager. And it worked well for both parties.

Maybe winning the Club World Cup changed him and what he wants.

How many players has Frank been able to bring in? Has he said he's happy with the squad or that it needs time to transform? Who are you going to bring in if you replace him and what style does the club want to have going forward?

Why did it seem a rushed appointment other than the fact it was done mid-season? He played a set way which is his identity, the club were happy with that identity but did little to bring players in to play that system. There's a reason he was sacked for falling out with the sporting director. He also leaves with United in 5th not 15th.

Ill fit for Maresca, sure, but not for Chelsea.

Yeah so amorim was an ill fit again because it was clear what he wanted, they hired him and didnt give him the tools he wanted.

Frank was happy with the squad in pre season. And was able to float between 433 and 532 with no major gaps. His problem position on paper appears to be LW where we have a plethora of young talent in Tel, Odobert and Mikey Moore (shipped off on loan) but at times has played a striker at LW or Bergvall who plays centrally at LW. Young players need to play to develop and if we were 13th with more mins into guys like Gray, Sarr, Bergvall, Tel and Odobert than Kolo Muaini, Palhinha, Bentancur we'd at least be able to see what he stood for. That's why poch was afforded time and some bad results way back, once he showed us what he stood for, we saw progress and the odd bad performance in season 1 is forgiven. 6.5 games without an open play goal and only just see Tel and Odobert start together now?

He is also on the ropes in press conferences. In the last 2 weeks he said he had nobody to play centrally at 10 so moved Archie gray there, which resulted in a game that will get used in Guantanimo bay as torture. Even though he had both Odobert and Kudus available and had used them there this season already.

Then said of his sub on the weekend that he wasn't making a defensive sub to hold on 1 nil as Bergvall was a like for like replacement for Odobert. Like for like, how?

They groomed Amorim for weeks before he started. United were doing really well under van nistelrooy before he joined.

Clubs can make bad hiring decisions and shouldn't be afraid to own it and correct them

No one has said otherwise. In fact I started by saying that those bad hiring decisions are, in the majority, a result of rushing an appointment following a sacking. See: West Ham and Nuno. See: Everton most seasons before finally getting Moyes in. Plenty of clubs get stuck in a cycle of sacking a manager, bringing someone in quickly, sticking with them over pre-season, then sacking them when they don't improve.

The results under RVN are irrelevant. United knew what Amorim was about, his unique style and yet didn’t back him with what he needed, Amorim rightfully grew frustrated with the board and basically wanted the sack.

The owners and board at United is a disgrace.

Improvement is never instant but within 3 months you need to have a clear understanding of what the manager is about. Feel like you could with both Maresca and Amorim but cant with Frank.

Unless long throws is what he is all about and thats sackable on its own

Amorim had 15 months and while some results had turned, the football was putrid to get some of those results (Burnley etc). He was given time and players and showed nothing. He alienated players who are doing better at the clubs they went to. United may be poorly run at the moment but you can't just hope someone will polish a turd continuously in such a dog eating dog world. They're 4 points above 15th
