Robbo reckon that it's well know that players in our club are selfish not about the team but it's all me me me...

Interesting I would love to know names
It would be easier to name those that aren't.

And Fletcher's late withdrawal leading to him joining Robbie Gray, Jay Schulz, Dane Swan, Ben Reid, Jimmy Bartel, Matty Scarlett, Jarrad Waite, Marc Murphy, Adam Goodes, Shane Mumford and plenty of others in becoming the latest victim of the 'top 5 players at clubs who get injured the week they play Adelaide' curse.

Add Luke McPharlin to the list. Absolutely kissed on the dick by the footy gods this year.

He's sitting on the bench next to the 20th and 21st man and that guy wearing the yellow vest is the 22nd man.

The like button is not enough to express how excellent this post is.

Anyone else notice that after being a leaking ship last year that we hsve had rucci demanding a review for three or four months when all along kt had been conducting one without rucci or his sources catching on until a week or so ago... he kept that quiet.

True but to be fair, the standards of investigative journalism in S.A. sport isn't exactly much to sneeze at. Or even sniffle.

Or the Porps Injury.

Media coverage in the Powertiser today seems pretty lobsided to one particular team, I say its bias!!

And all it took was the departure of the senior coach and president and renewed rumours about our best player leaving. I'm sure there'll be an exposé on Paddy Danderfield's dog in tomorrows paper to balance things out.

or you could just read today's missive from Rucci: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/crows-gain-from-ports-pain/story-fn83zfxo-1226444485164

It seems that the crows will become the Roman Empire to Port's carthage:(

Haha it's just an opinion piece in a paper with a majority customer base of Crows supporters. He's hardly going to write Adelaide should thank Port for getting to AO etc. The license stuff, I'm sure the AFL would rather have control of it then the SANFL he's written tripe.

Yerp.

Rucci lost all his inner contacts at the club ... and he's been explicitly excluded from "information distribution" (let's call it!).

It used to be ... Rucci makes a few phone calls or gets a few calls with some updates on what to go to print with the next day.
Now ... it's *tumbleweeds*

He's burnt his bridges with the club and that has gone a long way towards fuelling his articles this year.

Jon Pierik sinking his Victorian boots in ...

IF PORT Adelaide cannot finally make the correct calls on and off the field, it should have its licence revoked when the new broadcast rights deal ends in 2016.
That is what the AFL must make emphatically clear to the Power, as the beleaguered club attempts to emerge from arguably the darkest of its days.

The AFL is keen to retain 18 clubs when its new broadcasting rights agreement, which bankrolls the league and clubs, is renegotiated in 2016. That number can be preserved even should the Power be cut. Options include issuing a new licence for a second stand-alone South Australian team, one without any historical allegiance and baggage, something that has hurt the Power.
One club president even feels there should be a third Western Australia-based team, one that would join the Dockers and the Eagles in having financial might in a state flourishing during the minerals boom

140+ years of history and tradition = baggage, apparently.

You know full well what was meant by that sentence. Its a very true point.

Port need to look at the Collingwood blue print of how not to alienate the diehards yet promote themselves to the masses.

The idea that a second SA based team that does not have 'historical or geographic allegiance' would be financially successful is so much bullshit I can not even.

If Port were to fold it would be such a giant catastrophic disaster for the AFL in this state in that they'd lose 99% of all Port supporters immediately. Considering the rest of the football watching public in SA follow the Crows, I do not who the **** is going to attend the games of Adelaide #2. Does Pierik think that this new SA club will be able to fund itself? The AFL will have to be pumping 100x more money into that than they have ever given Port.

It's just the most nonsensical bullshit I've ever read.

Eddie McGuire?

Even the Crows have lost supporters in SA and they are literally designed as a club for the masses. Boggles the mind how they could lose supporters with their designed competitive advantage

Jon Pierik sinking his Victorian boots in ...

Jon Pierik used to be a News Ltd cricket writer. He viewed Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh as everything noble and good about the game, and Brian Lara all that was bad. For that reason alone I didn't bother opening the link.

The only way a second SA club would be better off than Port in Adelaide is if it could take more members from the Crows than it loses from Port Adelaide. No Port fan will follow Great Southern Power or some bullshit like that. The SANFL will keep the status quo because they make 1 million per year (after handouts) from PAFC. They would not fund a new club - especially given the SANFLs unconsciable debt.

The reason Crows fans suggest a name change is because they know it won't work (why suggest something that requires them losing fans to work). It's the most lame and obvious troll.

I agree full well with all of that. Footy in this state has a lot of problems my club included.

But on all of the census data it says, in 1997 you had 1/3 the market and in 2012 you still have 1/3 the market.

All i am saying is that Port have that love hate stigma about them. I know growing up in a Norwood family hatred towards them was in my blood. Most of the other SANFL teams are the same. We all respect the PAFC but hate the team.

Its a tough task the power have tried a couple of ideas, and none have worked. I really think looking at the Collingwood model will help them attract new supporters and members. Without losing the diehards.

The second SA team deserves to be Port Adelaide. And will for a long time. Any other ideas are just stupid.

A powerful well supported president in the Eddie Brayshaw mold i think is the first step.

I guess this new Adelaide club will also be given GWS/GC style draft concessions? The rest of the country will love this? This is how i feel when i try to understand this stance:

The only re-brand that would have any chance of working (not that I am suggesting it) would be if Port and Norwood were to merge.

If we truly do still have 1/3 of the market then we have no real issues, just need to get back on winning ways.

I think I'm just going to give up and follow Sydney then.. let's all pack our bags, tuck out bat under the shoulder and walk off into the sunset.

These articles are really disturbing and unsettling!
