Interesting comment given you follow Port and the SANFL success it had.

Me, the Patriots all the way. Let's do it again boys.

Comprehension is obviously not your strong suit. My comment was clearly confined to watching sporting contests as a neutral.

When it comes to footy I'm not a neutral, as demonstrated by the unhealthy amount of time I spend reading and writing about it. And if you must know I'm a Port supporter because I'm born and bred westie scum, which, in relation to Adelaide and it's happy-clapper boy's club establishment, just happens to make me the underdog!

It's all connected man.

Underdogs. Are you serious?

Time for me to go before I split my sides. Funniest thing I ever heard.

Glad I made your day. I note you didn't ask for proof. Don't slam the door behind you.

I'm in love with this post

Port Adelaide have always been the underdogs in the SANFL.

We may have been at shorter odds than our direct opposition on the field, but there were always other obstacles such as the SANFL itself and of course the umpires... the glaring example occurring in 1943 when Ken Aplin blatantly cheated when officiating against Port to the extent he got rubbed out of the game for a year ... on his way to installation by the SANFL in the local Hall Of Fame.
I don't think underdog is the right term. We've always been top dog no matter what is pitted against us.

I realise thats said in jest, but for the record, hes a Centrals supporter.

South are a bit like the Melbourne Demons, in that they were relevant/successful 130 years ago, had their greatest moment of the 20th century about 50 or 60 years ago, and also the fact that they never captured the hearts of those living in their geographical area/zone.

I can think of 3 South supporters aive personally known - a guy at work who was in his 60s, my uncle who has now passed away, and a guy in his early 40s whos in my broader social circle.
South and Melbourne both won the flag in 1964, and both will be lucky to win another one before 2064.

Paps goes BANG!

geographically and socially and all these things we have always been the underdog as far as i've understood

I'd probably describe it more as our ability to never give up despite staring in the face of adversity or against all odds and situations.

Underdog traditionally in the SANFL as far as everyone else hated is, but certainly not underdog in terms of there being an expectation from the football world that we wouldnt win any given game.

Not sure what you mean by geographically being the underdog. We had if not the best then at least one of the best recruiting zones in SA in large parts of the Le Fevre and Eyre peninsulas. These wer only lost in 2014.

being a crows supporter football history is probably not one of your favorite subjects.

What has he had to say?

He's taken up Rowe's crusade against any criticism of Adelaide Oval, which I suppose you have to expect from a SACA lackey, but gets especially snippy when Wildy pulls his leg about his privileged status - no sense of humour at all, complete figjam.

Who's Wayne Phillips and what is a Wildy? o_O

Summer cRowe and Elbows on 5CC?
Phillips former SA and Aust cricketer and David Wildy former North footballer

i heard those two randoms on the way home interviewing Don Pyke (i think..) who spoke far too long about language and the language barriers and how they used different terminology where he came from and they're still trying to put the message across mid December. it's like he's Roberto Firmino adapting to life in Liverpool. inside scoop: they're not going to change their gameplan too much because Port's gameplan worked well last year. they will add some of West Coast's and see how it goes.

In other words, Don Pyke is a poor communicator.
