Had a chuckle last night when I found an old CD at home-Alvin and the Chipmunks doing Beatles covers.
Was so bad I don't think I can listen to any more Beatles covers

Chipmunk Punk was a killer/hilarious album. Worth picking up the cassette if you can find it - their cover of My Sherona better than the real thing...especially when under the covers. :p

Argh!!! I remember that song, how funny!
How am I going to get through the working day with chipmunks in my head lol.

Is that Kate Bush I see instead of cute cat in glasses?

Indeed it is - 5 weeks to go!!!

I'm so excited, I need to take my shoes off and throw them in the lake...

That'd hurt your ears. Where did you get that CD from anyway??

Can't think of many right now, but here's some interesting Beatles cover versions for you to enjoy;

Nick Cave-Here Comes the Sun
Echo and the Bunnymen-Ticket to Ride
Black Angels-Norwegian Wood
Ella Fitzgerald-Can't Buy Me Love (Ella does lots actually, but this is your favourite track of theirs :thumbsu:)
Awesome, thanks catgal. Not familiar with these artists, but will google to broaden my musical tastes!

I knew the Beatles must be a REALLY popular band to cover, but I can only think of U2, besides the chipmunks of course ;)

Think my GF and I are about to be kicked out of the hotel we're staying in.

We've just had a mini "My Sharona" dance off, both versions, so much fun, but think we'll have to sneak out quietly for dinner .

If the unspeakable happens and we make the grand final, will you be on the other side of the world James, or are my calculations out of whack??

Alison Mosshart (The Kills & The Dead Weather) and Carla Azar (Autolux) did a cover of "Tomorrow Never Knows" for Sucker Punch which I don't mind.

Ben Harper's cover of "Strawberry Fields Forever" goes alright.

There are lots out there.

I'll miss the Freo Prelim, but will be back in time for the Hawks GF. :p

Teriyakicat - Not her best song but love her attitude

Santana is a hero of mine, love Chad's gravelly voice in this song (no visual), other's I like with Santana are Rob Thomas - Smooth, Steve Tyler - Just feel Better & Everlast - Put Your Lights On

Wondered what I did wrong this time, seeing as it wasn't posting in the wrong thread perhaps you can enlighten me as to the strike reference..

twas a joke re crimes against musac, hence the :D at the end.

also, i dont think i have ever pulled anyone up about posting in wrong threads (unless you mentioned varcoe in the musac thread).

As I may have mentioned eons ago, I was a huge Beatles fan when I was 8 - 12. Obsessively so. Even had a tea-towel and dinner tray. But apart from a few songs, and one album (A Hard Days Night), I can live without hearing them ever again.

But I couldn't live a day without hearing Neil, and especially his cover of A Day in the Life.

Neil - keeping the goosebumps tingly day in day out.

It's a beautiful version. Think Neil Young also covered I Saw Her Standing There, but can't find it anywhere??

One of my favourite Neil Young covers, and an all time favourite song of mine is All Along The Watchtower (best you cover your ears or skip it VC ;));

No way Catgal.

May as well have got meatloaf to perform it.
In a weird way, glad I can say I was at that grand final to see Meatloaf butcher his own song. Once in a lifetime stuff.

Neil Young is a unique artist VC. He divides opinion among my mates-can see where you sit :D;)
I'm definitely a fan. Maybe you like his originals more-Heart of Gold, Old Man etc..?

Yes, I see what you did there.

I think.

Back onto Beatles' covers. Any fans of The Breeders?
