Any takers for Doc Rivers?
He has single handedly destroyed the Clippers.

- Firstly, the Clippers received him from Boston in 2013 for an unprotected first round pick.
- 2014 saw them use pick #25 on Reggie Bullock who was traded two years later for his son Austin (who is being paid $11million a season now WTF)
- 2015 saw them use pick #28 on CJ Wilcox who was traded two years later for a future 2nd rounder.
- Also, in 2015, they traded Dudley and a future first rounder for Delfino, Raduljica and a 2nd round pick. Neither Delfino or Raduljica would play a game for them.
- The Clippers had no pick in the 2015 draft.
- In Feb 2016, he brought Jeff Green to the team for a future 1st round pick. Green then left as a Free Agent 3 months later.
- In 2017, the Clippers had no picks in the draft.

We are now looking at losing both Paul and Griffin and if that happens, we will have a total of 35 million in cap space to replace them... BOTH OF THEM!!.

No wonder Jerry West has been brought in... What a f***** mess!!
Traded the draft pick that would be Kyrie for Mo Williams also :p

Um yeah I don't think LeBron is gonna go to the Clippers.

CP3 is a definite upgrade for Houston.

In terms of a roster fit though, I don't like it. Harden and CP3 are both best with ball in hand and they're both perimeter players.

Blake Griffen would have been a much better addition to form a modern D'Antoni style Nash/Amare combo with Harden/Griffen. Then just get shooters to surround them.

--
Horrible trade for Clippers. They would have known beyond doubt CP3 would be leaving, so that's why the move would have been made.

But that ruins LeBron to Clippers chances.

And with word that LeBron's wife wants to move to LA. It's a big loss for the Clippers as they may well have been a possible destination for him had CP3 stayed.

They were never getting him and neither are the lakers

Unclear until LeBron announces he is a Cav for life.

He's not happy with the Cavs roster as presently constructed. He knows they don't have enough to beat the Warriors. If they get can Paul George and maybe Faried in a trade for Love, and they keep adding talent. Or maybe if Mello and D.Wade can find their way there. They're the sorts of moves Cleveland needs to make to keep LeBron beyond the 17-18 season.

Wade could get there as a FA as I don't think the Bulls want old players on the Roster.

So you can see James Leaving for LA?

Wade has taken up his player option. He will stay in Chicago. He will have to either be traded or cut during the season to end up in Cleveland this season.

There is talk that James will join the Lakers after the 17-18 season if he doesn't think he can win another championship with Cleveland.

Remains to be seen if it will happen. But that's a story-line to follow over the next year.

LeBron said he would win a championship for Cleveland. He has met his obligation. He never said that he will be a Cav for life.

There is a lot of media speculation and discussion about whether LeBron will stay or go after the 17-18 season. And the reason for it is the nature of the contracts he is signing, signing on for all these short deals with player options and opt outs.

I feel staying is his best option to win, beyond moving to Golden State which he won't do. Having Kyrie and Love or whoever they trade him for. That's a better core than he would have in LA with Ball too young to be anything significant to winning and no obvious pieces on the way in to join him.

It would take Cleveland unloading contracts and reducing cap spend significantly for moving to be in his best interests, and Cleveland aren't there yet.

True he never said he would be a Cav for Life. That be useless now as he already been to Miami.

But he came back to Clevland and said how happy he is to be back and wants his Kids to Grow up there

Horrible trade for Clippers.

I disagree.
It's now obvious Paul was leaving regardless.
He was gracious enough to opt in and allow the Clippers to receive something in return and I think we got some good pieces to be honest.

Pat Beverley, while not on the same level as Paul, Westbrook, Curry, is still a very good bball player and an extremely good defender. If the Clippers starting line up next year is one thing, that's super pesky on defense with both Beverley and Rivers fantastic defenders.

Lou Williams I suspect will be traded given he and Crawford are too similar but even if we held him, he's nothing to be sneezed at.

The two rookies are what i'm most interested in. While I admit that I haven't seen a lot of Dekker, he did score 30 in his first game and from his highlights seems a likely type. Was a first rounder and is still only 23 so i'm more than happy to give him a chance.
Montrezl Harrell is probably a little less likely but still an early 2nd round pick and is only 23 also. Had a couple of big games last season including a 29 pointer against us ironically.

Then there's the first rounder next year which will most likely end up around the 25-30 mark.

I expect (and hope) that we blow up the team or at least trade Deandre for a cheaper, more offensive centre that can still offer some rim protection at the other end. JJ can leave (i'll show him the door after that rubbish against Utah in the 1st round) and I expect a lot of our other pieces to move on as well leaving Jerry West with an amazing canvas to start again with. We also have 2019 and 2020 protected picks (top 5 maybe?) that we'd get back if we completely bottom out.

My biggest hope out of all of this is that Doc Rivers leaves. He didn't want to rebuild at Boston, didn't like the thought of it at Orlando and surely won't stick around in LA to do it.

My biggest fear out of all of this is that Doc Rivers makes his son the starting point guard.

tl;dr - Not horrible at all. Paul was leaving regardless. We got some value back with some good young prospects and our rebuild has begun.

LeBron wont go to the Lakers as he wants to win.

Lakers are just as bad as my team the Sixers atm. It wont happen. LeBron isn't stupid.

Can I ask how you began following the sixers? I see so many people wearing sixers jerseys these days. Is it just the Simmons factor? Iverson?

I watched harrell and Dekker a lot in college, Harrell is a beast and under played in Houston could be a starting big. Dekker will be a decent player also

Good to hear mate.... From what I've seen in highlights and write ups, i'm not terribly disappointed at all to be honest.
During the year, I made a comment to a friend of mine that I thought it was time to trade Paul while he had value. Obviously it's tough to compete after losing somebody like him and we won't be but it's a good start in the rebuild.

If this is true....

the Clippers had a chance to acquire Carmelo Anthony for Rivers and Jamal Crawford. This would have been a coup for L.A., but Doc Rivers turned down the deal, enraging Paul. In this rare case, both GMs involved look like morons here, Phil Jackson for proposing it and Rivers for refusing it. But what really solidified Paul’s dissatisfaction with Doc was a proposed trade involving Carmelo Anthony last season. New York offered Carmelo and Sasha Vujacic to the Clippers in exchange for Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers, a deal to which Rivers ultimately said no. That event led Paul to feel that keeping his son on the roster was more important to Doc than improving the team. So, ultimately, Paul lost both trust and faith in Doc.

I saw Iverson and loved the way he played then started following the Sixers.

CP3 was traded because LAC didn't want to offer CP3 a fifth year and CP3 was going to have none of that and told the Clippers as much.

The interesting part with CP3 is he is picking up the final year of his deal. He can do whatever he wants after this year. He could team up with LeBron, Mello and D.Wade if he wants to.

Maybe Cleveland trade Irving for CP3 + something.

As you said in a later post. LAC should have traded for Mello to team up with CP3, Griffen and DeAndre.

Why would Cavs Trade Irving?

LeBron if he can would like to team up with CP3, D.Wade and Mello. They're close friends and holiday together.

If Cavs get CP3, they don't need Irving/probably can't accommodate both in the same backcourt.

Houston always have picks to spare, so they'd easily be able to add first round picks to make the deal equitable noting that Irving is younger and has more good basketball left in him.
