Paul George to Lakers. Me like...

Don't know if the Pacers will trade him though. The best they'll get is a mid first round pick. Cavs would be stupid to trade K-Love for a one year rental.

U honestly think he would only stay for a year to go to the Lakers after playing with LeBron and Kyrie? Absolutely no chance

So the Cavs would risk everything for a chance at Paul George? What if the Cavs lose next year and PG leaves? They're screwed.

Well they lose Loves contract so it's not bad at all really.
Either way they will get assurances that's it's not a 1 year thing before doing it but there's no chance George leaves for LA if he gets a chance with the Cavs

Ok then.

Who do the Cavs trade? Will the Pacers want to take on any of the Cavs huge contracts?

Good trade by Boston, moving down to pick 3 to gain someone who better fits the roster and also gaining a future first (either from Lakers or Kings - both of whom are terrible) as a bonus.

Josh Jackson is right up there with Fultz and Ball in this draft and fits Boston better, with his defense helping cover IT's lack of defence.

They trade Love and can do extras if need be to them.
Pacers won't lose him for nothing.
I doubt Indiana would send him to a divisional opponent though

What you think of what the Sixers have done? Worth it to get Fultz? I'm just happy we are actually doing something with the future picks we have acquired. I honestly can't wait until next NBA season. Wanna see Ben , Joel and Fultz playing together. About time there's something to get excited by being a Sixers fan.

It's a win-win.

Philli need a quality point guard. Fultz appears the one to get. He's not a gamechanger but an ideal fit alongside Simmons who probably plays that LeBron style point-forward role and Fultz well suited as an off-guard with his shooting and scoring capabilities.

Boston need wing/perimeter defense to put around IT and not another point guard - with Fultz and Ball bench players behind IT and more than enough reserve point guards coming out of their ears. With the bonus future first round pick a great win for them in their situation.

What would you suggest that Philly do from here?

Do they go into FA (I think Redick is a FA) and bring somebody like him over for 2-3 seasons or do they use their cap to "back end" a few contracts, like Covington for example, to help with cap space in seasons to come?

Or do they do something crazy, like trade for Kevin Love, like some crazy rumours are suggesting?

For the record, I am completely against trading for Love and would be happy with the strategy in either of the first options.

If I'm fairdinkum about making the roster better I'd be making a trade for Jimmy Butler.

He has enough years on his contract to stay, is a loyal guy and will do a lot on both ends towards winning and fit well alongside Embiid/Saric/Simmons/Fultz.

The trade for the 76ers would revolve around Okafor and future picks.

For the record as a Bulls fan I'm anti-trading Butler. Losing him makes the Bulls into something like Denver. But if I'm the 76ers, I'd be looking to get in established players who fit the roster and make a difference towards winning and can help with young player development. Butler ticks the boxes if he can be had with anything short of moving pick 1 this year while still retaining Embiid/Saric/Simmons.

Think Lowry is still an option?

So now that the Clippers have landed Jerry West and his #1 task is to land LeBron in next year's FA, what do we think needs to happen this year in order for the this pathway to be as smooth as possible?

Do they blow up this year and send Blake packing while retaining CP and Deandre?
Is it seen as a "gap year" of sorts?

Depends on contract offer and size. He's a small point guard and over 30 so I'd be cautious with offers.

With Fultz at pick one, Lowry isn't a need. Really good 3pt shooter but would take the ball out of the hands of Simmons on O more, which developmentally isn't ideal.

Consider depending on the contract it would take. With teams having money and with Lowry being as established as he is. He would likely be too pricey. $18m per year or less is around what I'd consider him on over 4 years. Can't see him signing for that, particularly having stated he wants to play for a winning team/championship contender.

It's a great question.

I'd be making a move for Mello, trading Crawford and Rivers for Mello. All the talk has long been Phil Jackson wants to get rid of Mello, Mello needs to waive his no trade clause, but to LA, to a contender, if pitched that LeBron may join him a year later along with D.Wade. I think you'd have his attention. If a future pick needs to go to NYK, sure.

Do that, look to add LeBron and D.Wade the next offseason and you've got a heck of a core, even if it means Blake Griffen needs to be traded for picks or future picks to make the salary cap room available to make it happen. It's that foursome - LeBron, CP3, Mello and D.Wade, that LeBron would like to form and if he has other talent around him such as DeAndre Jordan who can fit with those guys, that's what he'd be after. Then a bunch of shooters off the bench to spread the floor.

Do you think it's possible to have a starting 5 of

C: Deandre Jordan
PF: Lebron James
SF: Carmello Anthony
SG: Dwayne Wade
PG: Chris Paul

You would have DJ and CP3 already on max deals.
The other 3 would have to take significant cuts you'd think.

On paper, that's dream team right there but we all know how bad these scenarios can go (See Brooklyn).

If you get LeBron it's worth it. It moves the Clippers up to number two in the West. It would only take one major injury to Golden State to beat them and then proceed to win the chip.

It's worth the shot.

The other option is rebuilding which can be done any time down the track.

Overall I liked the chance that Brooklyn took with KG/Pierce/J.Johnson/D.Williams. Their mistake was making all those picks unrestricted without and top 5 protection or anything to save themselves from the situation they're in.

The current Boston talk is they want to trade pick 3 for Jimmy Butler and get Gordon Hayward through free agency.

Add those guys to a roster that made the Eastern finals. And getting those future first round picks in that switch with Philli.

Boston will have done well and really improved their team.

It's probably not enough to beat Cleveland. But it makes them a legitimate two seed out East and if LeBron gets injured or moves after next season out West or elsewhere. They're in prime position.

Cleveland also working hard to get Butler and trying to get create in a move that sees Love go to Phoenix and the Bulls various picks and maybe Bledsoe from the Suns.

It's not rigged. It's not like the same team wins every year.

Media journalists each year see the NBA draft happen live in front of their eyes. Credible journalists and different ones each year.
