R.I.P.D. (2013)

Surprised to see this was 2013 because I hadnt heard of it

Ryan Reynolds , Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon star in this paranormal activity comedy actioner about a police department in the afterlife keeping an eye on 'deados' back on earth

Has a strong MIB feel - I can imagine the pitch being ''MIB but in the afterlife'' - before Deadpool so Reynolds is evolving his wisecracking style in this

Kevin Bacon hams it up as a cop but Jeff Bridges goes the whole pig with his portrayal of a western lawman. Mary Louise Parker is the Boss of the squad room and is fine

Its not terrible but nor is it good. It has its moments but it really hides nothing as the twists are there to see - one small fun bit is the view of the 2 from other peoples perspective - but I'm not sure it adds a lot to this

I can see the potential for a TV series but it would need to tighten up some areas

6/10 because I did laugh once or twice
That’s generous

Wasnt for me. Thought it was going to be good. Great cast,m.i.b feel like poster said. Just didn't work at all.

What were you expecting? Silence of the Lambs?

It was a movie that filled 90minutes adequately. I never expected much and got what I expected

I haven’t seen silence of the lambs 😂

The source material sounded great but it felt like almost everything was wrong with it

You gotta watch it! Amazing film.
I’m actually horrendous at watching the old classics. I’ve watched majority of the great modern films since I started working at the cinemas but just haven’t done it with the old stuff, which I know I have to.

I binge watched all of Jupiter's Legacy.. I don't know how to feel about it really, twist at the end hooked me in and I really want to know what is going to happen... at times it was great, at times it dragged.. most episodes were told over 2 separate time lines explaining how the heroes got their powers etc which was ok, but would have been fine to just have one big flash back episode i think and then delve more into the main players and the story at hand.. at times i felt myself thinking I had no idea who this person was or why I should care about them.

Anyone else thoroughly underwhelmed by Season 2 of Love, Death + Robots? Animation was still pretty epic but lacked in variety and the plots were all very surface level compared to Season 1. Also, less than half the amount of episodes. Seemed pretty rushed.

No Peter Hamilton this time either (Sonnie’s Edge).

That’s disappointing to hear, season 1 had some incredible moments.

Tried watching it years back and again struggled with the early parts of season 1 but once i got through it and onto season 2...Loving it!
Now I’m up to ep 7 and I can see what the fuss is about.

One thing that confused me. And its very random but kind of annoyed me were the ages of parents and the kids. If there in there 90's and kids are early 20's were they 70 when they had them?

Zack Snyders: 'Army of the dead' was terrific. Made the way a zombie movie should be made, gruesome, gory, and never taking itself seriously.

Agreed. Had a lot of stupid moments, but I really enjoyed it. Batista has a much more impressive movie list to his name than The Rock.

The stupid moments are often what makes a good zombie movie IMO. It shows the director/writers get the genre.

Started Startup yesterday. Very, very good with a fantastic cast. It's a sign of a great show that every episode leaves me hanging on to what happens next. Terrific story telling.

Nailbomber Manhunt brought back some memories, a friend of mine left the Admiral Duncan about five minutes before the bomb went off and my brother who was working just around the corner got evacuated. By the time I got in touch with him to make sure that he was okay he was so pissed that he rang me the next morning to check in totally forgetting he'd spoken to me the night before.
